MednafenX-PCE - PCE/TG16 Emulator for XBox v5

goto http://www.ressurectionxtras.net/ for latest cheats, rumbles, synopsis and skin updates.

************************************************
*** Changes To MednafenX_PCE Core ***
************************************************

* Given the full "Madmab Edition" treatment.
* New dual-preview skin to support Ressurection Xtra's. Say thank you to Gilou9999 for the skin.
* "Auto Game Configurations (aka Configuration defaults)" added (see below description).
* Fixed an issue where the screen was not displaying correctly in Mednafen_PCE when in debug mode.

* Apparently mp3CDDA and CDDA volume were sharing the volume variable for Mp3music. Created seperate volume variables for each. Mp3CDDA and CDDA volume are saved with each game so you can customize this for CD games.

* CD music volume is now saved with each game. That way the user can better balance the sound in games that use CD audio/music.

* New feature "Seconds before playing movie" determines how long the emu will wait before playing a movie. The default is half a second. This will help speed up rom browsing. Especially useful for people streaming stuff (like movies) across the network.

* If streaming movies from across the network and the user press on the dpad or a, b, x or y the emulator will abort the transfer. This should help speed up rom browsing and allow the user an "out" especially for the larger movies.

* Fixed an issue with the software filters displaying garbage.
* Activated the "Keep user Within ROM Directory Tree?" which I somehow missed.
* Fixed up the box/cart art position on a few skins.
* Fixed a problem where setting the box/cart orientation was screwed up.
* Fixed the bug that screwed up Gilou's skin to begin with (too weird to explain). tongue.gif

In the "General settings" menu there will be a new option.

"Automatically Use Default Game Configuration - Yes/No"

If the user sets it to "Yes" it will bring up the game configuration screen and let the user define the default (if no default.stg and default.key file exists).

In the "Configuration" menu there will be a new option... "Set default game configuration"

The user can go in anytime thru the "Configuration" menu to change these "defaults" to something else if they wish.

Once set to "Automatically use Default Game Configuration" the user will not see the game configuration screen again unless they... a) press X when selecting a game. Change "Use Default Game Configuration" back to "No".

Keep in mind when it is set to "Yes" the game will use your "Default game settings" and not the normal x-port behavior. If set to "No" the emulator will behave like it usually does. Each emu is typically different. But all, at the very least carry the controller settings over.

This feature will only be added to emulators in which it is feasible to use.

yes, excellent excellent! Very excited to try this tonight. I've waited 20 years to see what the sequel to Shadowgate is all about. wink.gif unfortunately it looks (and I'm betting, sounds) nothing like the original.

Thanks, Madmab smile.gif

Do the wavetable sound channels still sound slightly raspy as in the X-Port releases? The Linux build sounds so smooth in comparison...

Thanks MadMab!
Is everything going to Xbins?
StatusX?
Neverland?

Cheers,
Cospefogo.

Nice job Madmab, thanks. smile.gif

I have SNES and Genesis emulators so far, i was impressed by the game list for this one so ive collected the roms and media. Love it.
However, im converting my Action\Title shots to a 3D Panel, like i have for Genesis and SNES, works great in those emulators but this one doesn't seem to like 3D artwork as i won't show onscreen.
Normal 2d flat stuff does but not 3d. Now the 3d Boxart works but not 3d anything else.
Do you think you could look at the code and see if there's something you've missed please.
madmab
Do the 3d titles work in the other emulators (like neogenesis)? Because they all pretty much share the same code..

Maybe I have to do a complete recompile. Visual studio can be pretty moronic sometimes when it comes to compiling changes.

At the very least I would make sure the snaps you are creating work in something like NeoGenesis so we can confirm that there isn't something about the image.

I will say that they are all built using exactly the same script code. All i do is change the the dimensions.
Will try your suggestion, don't know why i didn't think of it, maybe it was getting too late, lol.
Will get back to you on it.

Well diagnosed Madmab, its not the emulator or the process but the layers in the panel itself thats the problem, so false alarm, ignore me. Sorry ! lol.
madmab
Good to hear. I currently cringe at bug posts since I'm trying to get the rest of those poor emu's out in a decent time frame.. laugh.gif

Thanks a bunch for V5. I'm also REALLY excited about the upcoming MednafenX_PCE V6. We are all very, very, lucky to have madmab around doing these emulator upgrades.

Thank you so much madmab for making the time to do this!!!!
madmab
v6 will have a fix to the music stopping problem. As well as accumulative fixes of the bugs discovered since I started releasing these. Once I'm done releasing them all I'll go back round and recompile with fixes for all of them.

I can't WAIT for V6 because of the bgm fix! Again, I thank you.

Til then, I'm going to try out a backup I made of my Sega CD version of Lords of Thunder. Not sure if NeoGenesis has the same problem, so I'm going to check just in case.

Hey madmab what about fixing the cdda music don't stoping when it should? there are issues with the "perfect cue system" making games like space fantasy 2 usa and ranma unplayable will you fix this? only needs a little optimization to reach perfection and now is the moment to do it please check this tread:

Man, I just took a look at your thread and you have a great point about those issues. I found that the music doesn't stop when it's supposed to in Akumajo Dracula X after you kill a boss. In fact, the boss music keeps playing over the top of the victory jingle after every boss in that game. Like you, I also own my original turbo cd games and know how to rip them correctly. I believe madmab will hear our polite requests about fixing this. smile.gif

I'm gonna contribute bug reports for him on every emulator he releases. I want to help him out of appreciation.

Patience guys...
