I just bought a 2tb hitachi sata hardrive. i did the usual boot cd with xboxhdm and used my sata to ide adapter to do the install.

xboxhdm wouldn't let me activate a F drive saying that the drive was too small

when i put the drive in the xbox it kept saying error 9

the drive comes up fine in the pc bios and I even put xp on it to see if it works.

my sata adapter works fine with my western digital green 1tb

also with the xbox hdm disc I did the same procedure to a 60 gig samsung ide drive and it worked fine so for some reason xboxhdm is not compatible with this drive. it lets me partition it but not get a F drive and the xbox won't boot

any ideas or should i return the drive and get something else

Sarcasm works every time. Be patient, these boards aren't monitored 24/7.

From what I have read today from others with large hard drives, you will need to use Xbpartitioner 1.0 to format the F and G drives then load Xbpartitioner 1.1 to format them again with 64k clusters.

Try booting your xbox with the a/v cable disconnected from the xbox end, wait a few seconds (you will get green/orange flashing), and while the xbox is still on, plug in the cable. Did it now boot to the dash?

See here for more info.

EDIT: The HD in the post linked above was also a Hitachi SATA HD.
