Rumor: Xbox 360 Slim and Kinect (Natal) outed by Microsoft ad?

From joystiq.com:
An alleged Italian Microsoft ad, originally found on Console Tribe, seems to have revealed a slim Xbox 360 alongside a renamed Project Natal, touting a 250GB HDD, built-in WiFi (it's the future!), and compatibility with "Kinect" -- presumably the new name for Natal. The advertisement leads back to the Italian Microsoft site and the source of the page tells us that Atlas Solutions -- a Microsoft-owned ad company -- pushed the image automatically to the site.
Here's a video of the original ad (yes it's in Italian as it ran on an Italian gaming site):
Kinect? Sounds very possible since it seems Microsoft filed a patent/trademark application for that name back in April 2010 to be used for a "computer software, computer hardware or computer peripheral".

I really hoped thats a photoshopped image of the new slim, because it looks horrible I seriously almost gagged when I saw it, I mean the front looks like it was beaten in with a hammer! Hell the whole thing looks like it was formed by a hammer(which it kind of was on a manufacturing press) but it still makes me cringe.
Oh well hopefully this will inspire more people to mod their 360 slims with unique case designs like with the original xbox, but meh could just be the first sight jitters. I may grow to love the new design, but for now its just too awful for me to think of owning.

Edit: Figured I say something positive as well...
I do like the 250 gb hdd though I'm guessing its internal same as the wifi, which I don't hate just had to come up with a bent 360 in the shape of 8 trapezoids.

It looks fake, look closely at the line going up the side just avove the grill in the small pic, it smoothly goes up and meets the angle at the back.
On the closeup it misses it completly and somehow goes through the logo too.

Is it just more or does this not look that slimmer than the normal Xbox 360?

I think it looks awful

. If this is their final design then I think they could have done much much better. I was expecting something sleek, unobtrusive and super stylish for the slim's design. This looks a real mess to me (personal opinion of course). I was planning on getting one but after seeing this I'm not so sure.
Also, it's difficult to judge scale but using the DVD tray as a guide it doesn't look much shorter. I suppose we'll get a better idea of how it looks during E3.

Looks sketchy, the case does match the design of the Valhalla mobo pictures that leaked a while back where the motherboard had a coolermaster heatsink...

What the hell is everyone talking about? This looks 10 times better than the original design. If you want to talk about an ugly redesign look at the PS3 slim , it doesn't even look like a game system.

I mean what's the point? It doesn't look any better than the original 360.

This banner ad revealed the name of Natal to be Kinect. MS have 100% confirmed that name. Fakes don't generally reveal other previously unknown facts.

I don't dislike the aesthetic design, but it's not much smaller than what we have now. Can't say if it's real or not. We'll see soon enough.

i for one like it. Its angular & different. Plus built in WiFI & a 250 gig HDD are excellent additions.

I like the design but it does not look any smaller than the current 360. If you look at the DVD drive you can see that its not really any slimmer or shorter.
Observations:
Looks more like the old Xbox1 in that is has an X shape.
More vents for better cooling and most likely quieter.
USB ports are now vertical which might be cause its alittle thinner.
I dont see an external HDD, no telling if that rendering/image just excludes it or it is now internal.
They might have move the power brick into the case.. but no way of telling from that pic.
Is it true or not.. well, Id say it most likely true. Look at the new 16gb usb tumbdrives. They are black and have somewhat the same shape. Mostly the cap..
I need a new 360 as I still have a launch console and would like to have HDMI. If this was on the shelve tomorrow id buy it.

i agree i think it has a built in power brick and HDD, since the pic of the motherboard awhile ago looked much smaller suggesting a smaller case, so i think it's roughly the same size cuz they added the power brick and hdd

Before I make the joke:
Nobody said it was going to be a slim model, that was a rumor, The components inside had an overhaul but it was never confirmed to be a slim model. The only reason people tagged "Slim" to the new board design was because they assumed it would be a slim as Sony's rebuilt console was the PS3 Slim.
Ok slim joke:
See where it's dented? right there? Thats about a quarter of an inch slimmer...
:| wasn't meant to be funny.

"Kinect"? Oh brother... and here I thought Natal was a dumb name. If you want to call it Connect, then just spell friggin Connect right, don't use all this "oh we're so cute we're misspelling on purpose TM" bullshit.

Dya know, I'm glad it's not just me that thought it was ugly.
First impressions were WOAH!!!!!
I think I'll stick with a normal 360 for now. Hopefully they might even come down in price when the "slim" version comes out, and I can get a newer revision.

this pic was photoshopped and the supposed new built-in wifi feature is bogus (M$ pushed out the new 'N' net adaptor recently). the 250GB hdd is definitely more believable.
i would love to see a slim 360 for sure but first things first. the damn overheating issues need to be prioritized first before aesthetics. the 360 needs to be reliable for crying out loud.
i could careless about natal/kinect. that's kid's stuff.

yeah? so only include b/g on the "slim" and you can still sell the N adapter as an upgrade.

yeah, it's pretty shoddy photoshopping, but that doesn't mean it didn't come from MS.

At first glance, I too thought it looked FUGLY.
However, upon looking at it further, I think the design looks pretty nice.
I love the vents on the side, will be great for aiding cooling. Looks like MS really want to avoid another $1bn RRoD fiasco.
I may grab one of these now 'slim' consoles when my current one gets banned.
I think I'll be calling it XBOX 360 Valhalla from now on

It doesn't look small because it's not compared to something, it needs the normal 360 or something standing next to it.

I have just compared two pictures using this method, if anything the new one is slightly taller, is deeper, but is slimmer.

QUOTE(leo5150 @ Jun 14 2010, 10:33 AM)

No faith i guess? i thought the last leaked mobo design and this case looked like better cooling designs, smaller CPU/GPU designs, big fan right on the CPU/GPU, witch aligns nicly to the vents on this case. as apposed to pulling air through a "tunnel". Most heatsinks i've seen that were decent an not watercooled, had a fan attached right to it, and not sitting across the board trying to pull enough air out to keep it running. Remember, they know they fucked up badly with the last design, the system was rushed first to market an suffered, they didn't have to rush this, so hopfully cooling was a large amount of there time.
Plus all this shit talk about internalising the powersupply? very doubtful, microsoft knows about heating issues and wouldnt toss in the extra heat source, plus if the powersupply was inside and the HDD inside, this system would not be smaller, but probably larger, selling an upsized system would have worse reviews then a redesigned system that marginally got smaller, just saying, plus come on who here really has an issue with the power brick? it's tucked away and out of sight on my setup

How many Jaspers do hear of failing from RROD? Your wrong about smaller size making it harder to cool. Read up on the combined GPU/CPU chip which should use less power = less heat

Have to agree with this entire post.
I hope they have no more white consoles only black as it annoyed me when people thought they had a better 360 because it was a black Elite over a Premium/Jasper of the same age.

the only 360s iv seen rrod(or e74) are 3-5 years old i would expect a piece of hardware to fail after that amount of time regardless of who makes it
myself i would have one of thesse it would go nicely with all the other black gadgets i have around my tv

ive seen the new cooling setup looks good, but even though they made cooler running chipset the tighter the confines of the inside of the box it generates alot of heat because of smaller box, so looks good but id rather have the full size 360 with the totaly redesigned chipset, it will run even cooler in a full size 360 box, so design is good but the slim is 99% guarnteed to have no RROD issues the full size with same cooling design and chipset is 100% guarnteed to have no RROD issues, id rather have the extra 1% of security
