Hi, I love playing nazi zombies but I hate having to take my thumb off the right stick when trying to rebuild barriers. I took a look at one of RDC's pics of the board I have:
I have one of those rapid fire switches that you get in kits off ebay so would that work well enough? And how would I go about doing this? Just solder one wire from the via to the switch and another from the switch to ground or something like that?

Yes you can use one of those Tact switches for that, or any kind of N.O. (Normally Open) switch for the duplicate button. On that version of board you'll need to solder one wire to the Square Via, then the other one will go to TP18.
Be careful when scrapping the coating off the Via before soldering, they're a good deal smaller than the ones on a 360 controller and if it becomes damaged it'll be even harder to fix up. I also recommend you use 30awg wire, anything much bigger than that and it'll be kinda difficult to solder to that small of a Via. After you have the wires soldered up it's a good idea to secure them in place with a bit of hot glue, not on the actual solder joint, just back from it a little bit on the wire to hold it against the board, so if you need too resolder or remove the wiring later on for any reason it can be done without tearing up the Via.

Wait, so if I wanted to add external points for other buttons I would just solder the button to the point/via and TP18? Or are there alternate points for TP18?

TP18 is the Common line for the O, /\, [ ], X, R1 and R2 buttons.
TP17 is the Common line for the D-pad, L1 and L2 buttons.
