Either it was already like that, or you possibly put the cable in upside-down, it's loose, or it's just a bad cable. Is it a Toshiba-Samsung drive? If so, you can try pressing eject, then tap on the front of the bezel and it should open.

i know it has something to do with the xbox.. wiether it was before or after i don't know...
i do know
it is a hitachi drive(non hdmi xbox)
the xbox works fine(no rrod)
it will not show " (x) to eject" on the dashboard
it constantly switches between - "Reading" and " Closing Tray" every 10secs or so
i have put the dvd drive in another xbox and it works...
I have put new cables and new dvd drive and still no eject
i have tried to reflow the southbridge twice with a 1200w hot air gun
when i push the eject button the light blinks once and then stays solid and i hear no motion coming from the drive
i know the dvd drive still get power because i can use this bad xbox to power it and connect to jungleflasher and gain(modeB) but JF won't dump or flash

Have you tried putting a different drive in that Xbox to see if it will eject/read DVDs?

Here's the problem - you're using a heat gun. Also, it may not be the southbridge, it could be a blown/broken cap near the SATA pinout, a cut trace, etc, though I would place my money on the southbridge too. What was the error code before you fixed the RROD?

i found my problem
problem solved... the dude before me had scratched the mobo when he took off the x-clamps... good thing all he broke was a resistor and not a capacitor.. so i just bridged the spot with solder and it works now.
it was "R2N15" underneath the southbridge
here is a pic so anyone else with the same problem
