i have a xbox that just gave me the e71 error after 3 years. my 3rd xbox and i don't feel like paying 100$ to repair it when i can get a arcade for 150 new. i just got the new slim xbox if you can really call it a slim lol. my question is, is it possible for a mod chip to repair that e71 error or do i have just a bricked system? i know the answer will be no ether buy a new one or get it repair but i though i ask.

E71 can be from a bad dash update, messing up the data in the nand, so it won't boot. Or the southbridge has come undone, and needs to be reflowed.

I'm leaning towards the southbridge needing a reflow.

Modchip is not going to fix it, either get the southbridge reflowed or clamped, or put the nxe update on disc and boot it from the dvd drive.
