Using XBMP 2.4. I can get some stations streaming, but it seems to take a while for them to start. I also see some of them buffering, then dissapear and no audio. Is there a good resource out there on using SHOUTcast.

My setup is through RELAX.

I went through the forum and found some solutions and tried them with no luck.

Yeah man, I'm trying to get this straightened out, too.

How do you open the shoutcast stream? A .sc file from your PC, using RelaX?

I can get .sc files to work using relax, but not .pls.

They both work from the "Internet Radio (SHOUTcast)" folder on my xbox HD.

you using the complex release or CVS?

I heard the complex one was much more stable on this.

I've tried both.

Complex will open .pls from the xbox HD much quicker.

Neither one will open a .pls using RelaX. ph34r.gif

Hate to say it, but why not just put them on the HDD?

I love relax and use it a lot, but these small files I just FTP over and use them fro mthe harddrive. The buffer delay is driving me bonkers though.

i think the default streamcast is set to 12 seconds to log on to station.

i have mine set to 03 seconds ... and if station is off-line ... i don't have to wait ... I just move on to station that's working! smile.gif

P.S. I should clarify it a little .... it's like fishing! smile.gif

I hit a radio station (and 80 percent of the time it plays right away) ... and if no response after 3 seconds... i move to next station ... if it doens't move ... i know it's getting it ...and BAM ...the station plays in a few seconds.
If it moves I just move on and do the same! Cuts down on those "time out connections" that make you wait 10-15 seconds (i still get them but not as often as the 12 second delay setting... the slow connection message is super fast and I'm free to scan for working station)
In the past , with the 12 second delay ...it was a pain... i'd wait and wait, then get Connection time out and wait and wait ... and it was like Russion Roulette... changing stations ... all that WAIT time! ... But my method cuts the time by alot. And I find I'm switching stations alot more so i can explore all types of stuff ... which i was avoiding doing in the past.
Works for me! Hope that clarifies my method.
You find the streamcast setting towards the bottom of the config file.

<!-- timeout to wait for stream in seconds -->
<shoutcasttimeout>03</shoutcasttimeout>

I figured out my problem, I needed to allow RelaX internet access in ZoneAlarm.

I couldn't FTP them, because the file names XNSPlsEdit creates were too long. I found a handy freeware program called "The Rename" that will shorten all the files.

Okay, so I transferred all the .pls's, and mergedown is right, some of the .pls's you open, and nothing happens. Or it buffers, and then nothing happens.

I dunno. sad.gif

I can get some to play, I know they're online because I play them via my PC first. I don't mind waiting for the buffer as long as thats the only issue.

I just wonder why some work and some don't. I have converted mine to SC files.

is there still no solution to why it starts up so slow with the build from 6.24 ????

i tried changing cache sizes and a bunch of other things and still got nothing...
