Full Version: Xm360 2.0a Public Release

XM360 2.0a has been publicly released. It is available in the usual places.

The old support thread has been made invisible. It was explained to me that it was perceived as a commercial advertising thread since I accept donations. Because of that, I will no longer mention donations anywhere on this thread *except for this first post*. I continue to accept donations, much like many many other homebrew developers/projects. The amount of time and effort homebrew takes is huge, and the donations add a small sense of accomplishment. That's it. Nothing more, nothing less. If the mods have a problem with this, you can edit this post to remove this paragraph, or remove the thread entirely. I'm still hoping to get the old thread back, since it has a lot of historical information. If the mere mention of accepting donations causes this thread to be removed, I'll have to pack my bags and do support and announcements elsewhere...which makes me sad.

With that, please enjoy the newest features.

nice one been waiting for this as have a lot of people to, not seeing it at the usual place though.

I'll be honest i am a big fan of the 360, but when probably 90% of homebrew is nothing more than utilities like this it just kills my faith in the Jtag scene, people just aren't bothering with regularly updated emulators/games, so even if people have good intentions with making these utilities it just shows the main purpose right now to Jtag your 360 is piracy, and with the Ps3 now hacked a lot of the people who want to do entertaining homebrew are just gonna jump ship to the Ps3 with a better potential.
iateshaggy
nice work, this has always been a must have for jtags.

sounds like you are doing it wrong...post your config.

Great app! Have never been able to get xm360server.exe to work but I think it's because I use an internal hdd on my 360. I usually just update with perl. Anyways...a cool feature to add would be the ability to find and delete duplicate dlc and also to locate avatar items. I have sooooo many duplicate avatar items and way too many duplicate rb/gh songs that always show up as corrupted because there are duplicates.

Shouldn't have anything to do with an internal hdd, don't know why you'd think that even matters. I only have internal hard drives on all of my 360s...and it works fine.

Find and delete of duplicates could be done...

Avatar items has been asked many times before. I'd have to learn about them. I haven't gotten to that point yet.

Yeah, every one of those lines is still commented out. Remove the # at the beginning to make the line do something...
iwanttheagrocrag
Its great there's another update. Just used it on my optional media update and works perfect.
xboxhaxorz
Thanks, i got it to show. But when i click the proper IP the xbox restarts itself, it did it on both boxes. That is way weird ???
ZBeeblebrox
I have the same problem. Every time I click to connect to another system, the Xbox reboots. This happens on both systems I've tried it on, and with all versions of XM360 I've tried. If I click the "Force Rescan" box before trying to connect, it appears to take longer before the reboot. Here's my info in case it helps narrow down the cause.

Jasper 256mb
Freeboot .32 with latest Dashlaunch (w/ MU corruption fix)
Unlicensed Content Patch v2(?) with System Link patch included.
Freestyle Dash 2.0 v1044
XM360 v1.9b (tried also with v1.8d)
node21
These are both very interesting results...I've never seen this happen, but it sounds like a straight-up crash of xm360...

Are you guys trying to connect to xm360_server, or another xbox running xm360?
ZBeeblebrox
Mine are crashes when I try to connect to another Xbox. I've never tried the server (I don't keep copies of the stuff on a PC....I tend to move everything to the Xbox, then delete it from the PC). It does seem like a straight-up crash of XM360, and then possibly the Dashlaunch patch reboots the system. I have no problems when scanning local content, or unlocking/renaming DLC/XBLA, only when I try to connect to another system.
node21
Okay...I haven't tried 360 to 360 in quite some time, since I use the server for everything...I'll see if I can figure out what's going on in there...
ZBeeblebrox
Just for shits and giggles, I turned off the "Content Patch" (thanks to Dashlaunch 2.0's new easy setting in the ini file) to see if that changed anything, but it doesn't. The console still shuts down (this is the new default behavior of Dashlaunch when presented with a "Fatal Error" according to their documentation).
A little more info on the activity just pre-crash:
The crash occurs a few seconds after the "button" with the IP of the other system is clicked. All of the XBLA on the screen at the time are marked with the "L" for local, and the USB drive scanning seems to begin. Then the screen glitches (text blurs and moves a little to the side/half of screen goes blank/random garbage) and the system shuts down/reboots.
If there is any other info I can give, or any testing I can help with, just let me know.
bidrug
mine reboots just for launching it, black screen, will never scan/make the index...

Nah, this one will probably end up being trivial once I can make it happen in my dev environment. I'll be trying that this weekend.

Sounds like a bad install/bad download/bad something...this issue has never been reported by anyone else.
xboxhaxorz
yes mine just crashes when i do box to box even if the 2nd box is at freestyle dash and not xm360. i am using 1.8 i will try 1.9 and check.

the purpose of xmserver is? isnt that the same thing as flashfxp?
xboxhaxorz
just put dashlaunch 2 on both boxes and set it to stay on during crash

used the latest xm360 on both boxes, as soon as it find a connection it freezes
i tried it both boxes
if i start a connection on a box and then turn the other box and as soon as it gets to the dashboard the xbox that initiated the connection freezes

i am not sure why but thats my problem

would the ping patch have anything to do with this?
ZBeeblebrox
QUOTE(xboxhaxorz @ Sep 17 2010, 06:48 PM) *

I tried disabling the ping patch and the unlicensed content patch to see if maybe they were the issue. Still freezing, so I'm thinking it's not them. It may be Dashlaunch itself, but I don't really feel like building and flashing another freeboot image to test it. Node21 said he'd check it out over the weekend on his new DevKit, which is awesome of him to do, though I'd much rather have a new version of FreestyleDash to play with than a fixed XM360 (hint, hint). ;^)

i actually prefer the old style freestyle than the new. but maybe just cause its in beta.
node21
My end, I'll have to make a new release and get it to the "beta testers." Probably tomorrow.

I could use a little help. I haven't been keeping up with XM360 versions, so I am probably doing something wrong. FYI, just sent a donation as well...thanks for your continued effort.

So, my 360 has a ton of content on the USB drive. I'd like to setup the server and keep the two in sync. Awesome feature.

My XBOX config looks like:
CODE

# config file for xm360 ("xm360.cfg")
# XM360 looks for this file first in Hdd1:\config\xm360  (Hdd1:\config\xm360\xm360.cfg)
# if it can't find it there, it falls back to game:\xm360.cfg

## DLC_IGNORE_PATH is the path where the file "dlc_excludes.csv" will be read/written
## DLC_REPORT_PATH is the path where the file "dlc_report.txt" will be written
## DLC_TITLES_PATH is the path where the file "dlc_titles.csv" will be read (used to override the built in version)

## XBLA_IGNORE_PATH is the path where the file "xbla_excludes.csv" will be read/written
## XBLA_REPORT_PATH is the path where the file "xbla_report.txt" will be written
## XBLA_TITLES_PATH is the path where the file "xbla_titles.csv" will be read (used to override the built in version)

## The available prefixes are Hdd1:, usb: (first found mounted usb device), usb0:, usb1:, usb2:, usbmu0:, usbmu1:)
## in all cases, the default value is usb:\
## only the TITLES_PATH values will fall back to the built in version if nothing is found

## New in version 1.5 is REPORT_PATH which supercedes XBLA_REPORT_PATH and DLC_REPORT_PATH
## It allows a single definition for all report paths, including Game Saves.
## XBLA and DLC_REPORT_PATH are still understood, and will override REPORT_PATH which defaults to usb:

REPORT_PATH = usb:

DLC_IGNORE_PATH = usb:
#DLC_IGNORE_PATH = hdd1:\config\xm360

#DLC_REPORT_PATH = usb:

XBLA_IGNORE_PATH = usb:
#XBLA_IGNORE_PATH = hdd1:\config\xm360

#XBLA_REPORT_PATH = usb:

## User and Password for the ftpd.  If config isn't found, xbox/xbox will be used/
FTP_USER = xbox
FTP_PASS = xbox

## TIME_SERVER_IP is the IP to connect to to find out the current time.
## TIME_SERVER_IP default if this entry isn't found is 131.107.13.100
## Make it empty to skip setting the time
TIME_SERVER_IP = 131.107.13.100
#TIME_SERVER_IP =

## EXTRA_XBLA_SEARCH_PATH will be search for XBLA in addition to the built in places
## trailing slash will be trimmed if it is there
## the default value is empty
#EXTRA_XBLA_SEARCH_PATH =

## Configuration of other 360s to find looks like this.
## The label is optional (but displayed in the UI if provided)
## The login and password is optional (both default to 'xbox')
## The port is optional (and will default to 21)
## Whatever is after the last underscore ('_') has to be unique for each connection
## It is fine to configure ALL of your boxes (including the local one) since XM360 will filter out the local one.
## That makes it easy to share your xm360.cfg on all of your boxes.
OTHER_XBOX_FTP_LABEL_1 = Server
OTHER_XBOX_FTP_IP_1 = 192.168.1.101
OTHER_XBOX_FTP_LOGIN_1 = xbox
OTHER_XBOX_FTP_PASS_1 = xbox
OTHER_XBOX_FTP_PORT_1 = 21

#OTHER_XBOX_FTP_LABEL_2 = Family Room
#OTHER_XBOX_FTP_IP_2 = 192.168.0.104
#OTHER_XBOX_FTP_LOGIN_2 = xbox
#OTHER_XBOX_FTP_PASS_2 = xbox

#OTHER_XBOX_FTP_LABEL_3 = Office
#OTHER_XBOX_FTP_IP_3 = 192.168.0.106
#OTHER_XBOX_FTP_LOGIN_3 = xbox
#OTHER_XBOX_FTP_PASS_3 = xbox

## Horizontal and Verticle overscan can be specified.  If they aren't found, they default to 0
#H_OVERSCAN = 10
#V_OVERSCAN = 0

## CONTENT_BIN_PATH specifies where the content.bin file is stored.  It defaults to "game:"
#CONTENT_BIN_PATH = hdd1:\config\xm360

And my server config looks like:
CODE

# The following drives can be defined Hdd1, Usb0, Usb1, Usb2, MemUnit0, MemUnit1, OnBoardMU, UsbMU0, UsbMU0Cache, UsbMU1, UsbMU1Cache

# At least one drive must be defined otherwise nothing is going to work.  I suggest defining Hdd1 at least.
# Absolute paths like c:\foo and UNC paths like \\server\share\path are both supported.
# You shouldn't nest them, or you will end up with duplicates.  In other words, don't define Usb0 to be a branch of Hdd1

#DEFINE_HDD1 = \\share\public\console images\xbox360\jtag

DEFINE_HDD1 = D:\Content Server
#DEFINE_USB0 = e:\temp\USB

#CONTENT_BIN_PATH must be defined as an xbox 360 path, it defaults to Hdd1:\
CONTENT_BIN_PATH = Usb0:\Content\

#
# The FTP user, password and port can be defined, but they will default to xbox, xbox, 21 otherwise
#
#FTP_USER = xbox
#FTP_PASSWORD = xbox
#FTP_PORT = 212

I can connect from the XBOX just fine. I then go to do the initial "Push" from the xbox. Each item in the content window shows "Queued". One by one it looks like it is uploading to the server. After about 4 or 5, the XBOX reboots. On the server, I don't see any messages in the DOS window. The location for where I want my content to go shows a "content.bin" only.

What have I obviously done wrong?
node21
Thanks for the donation!

I don't know what would cause the reboot...but here's what you've obviously done wrong....

The path on the "server" where files get stored MUST mirror the exact path that they reside on the 360.

In your case, you indicated that your content is on USB:, but your server config doesn't have a drive mapping for that device (it's commented out near the top). Give the server some idea of where it should store USB: content, and it should all be fine.

Ahhh, ok. For whatever reason, I interpreted the options in the configuration as only requiring ONE location. So I've now defined a HDD1 and USB location on my server.

The files are now copying with no issues so far so that appears to have resolved the reset issue.

Thanks
Tatsh
Thank you for this excellent software. This is the best FTP server for 360 IMO. So fast. I always use it instead of anything else when I need to FTP in stuff. On average, 16 MB/s uploading to my 360 HDD (wired network). FileZilla is the client I use most of the time (on Gentoo Linux).

Is it possible to sync up two content locations on the xbox to one server location?

My XBLA content is on the USB, whereas the DLC and Updates are on the internal HDD. My XBLA syncs just fine. My Content is located:

Usb0:\Content (XBLA Here)
Hdd1:\Content (DLC)
Hdd1:\Cache (Title Updates)

Is there a way to add three CONTENT_BIN_PATH locations or something?

My server config looks
CODE

DEFINE_HDD1 = D:\Content Server\HDD
DEFINE_USB0 = D:\Content Server\USB
CONTENT_BIN_PATH = Usb0:\Content\

Things may have changed, but back when I first JTAG'd, DLC and Title Updates HAD to be on the internal HDD and XBLA could be located on the external USB drive. Hence my seperation of content
node21
this should work fine...

But I think you are confusing the CONTENT_BIN_PATH with defining directories.

CONTENT_BIN_PATH is a singleton, and tells the server on which of the other paths you want to store the "content.bin" file. There's no reason you'd ever need more than one...

Go ahead and define a single Hdd1: and a single Usb0: on the server, and every one of your 360s will be able to put content on the server in those two volumes.
tstein
Does the content that I want sync have to first be shown on screen? IE if I want DLC to sync, must I first do 'Show DLC" and then hit the Both button to sync?

I think my assumption was that if I click both right after xm360 loaded, it would sync ALL content, but the results were just the XBLA

I follow you on the CONTENT_ specifier.

Thanks node
node21
all of the sync buttons pay attention to what is currently displayed.

So, if you are on the first screen, and you use RB to show only GOD containers, and sync...only GODs will sync.

If you are on the DLC scene and have chosen to see DLC for Forza, and sync...only Forza DLC will sync.

If you want to sync *everything* you will have to visit the first scene (and leave it on "all"), the DLC scene (and leave it on "all"), etc...

Hi node21...

Any chance you could just always write the report files everytime the content.bin is updated?
I always wondered why this was not just automated...It would save some steps that I do very frequently...and would make my next request unnecessary...

if no on earlier request, any chance we could get a custom FTP command to make XM360 on XB write the report files? My computer is a long way from my TV and I always am walking back and forth just to tell XM360 to write updated reports...then walking back to computer to FTP the reports and look at them smile.gif

keep up the good work smile.gif donation sent

The one where you connect one 360 to another? I fixed it, but haven't built an official release yet. I'll do that right now, and send it out to the testers.

Thanks for the donation! Unfortunately, both of these requests would require some *real* effort. The scenes that currently write the reports are the *only* scenes that actually have all of the required data... In other words, when you launch xm360, it doesn't even know about DLC (for example) until you enter the DLC scene.

I'll look into it to see how much of an effort it would really be.

node21,

I am testing with 2.0...I found a small problem with RESC and RPTS FTP commands...

Did a full scan and created reports from the XBOX XM360 UI as normal...
Then went back to computer and uploaded a missing XBLA game...via FileZilla...
Issued custom FTP command RESC (connection timed out)...waited 5 minutes or so to let it finish rescanning...
Reconnected FTP and was able to verify that content.bin timestamp had changed....
Issued custom FTP command RPTS returned quickly and was able to verify that report timestamps had changed...

FTPed the reports back to computer and the XBLA game was still listed as missing...
repeated all the steps a 2nd time....still shown as missing from the report...

Went back to XBOX and check the XM360 GUI...Stills shows as missing in the collection management GUI...
Did rescan from XBOX XM360 GUI...now the XBLA game is FOUND and shown as HAVE and the report...

Something seems wrong with the RESC FTP command...seems like the rescan did not work correctly...
Am I missing something obvious here? This is my first time using RESC....maybe I am misunderstanding the expected behaviour here smile.gif

Hi node21,

Just upgraded to the latest version and noticed some odd things and not sure if these have been addressed before:

1) When using xm360server to update the DLC, it seems to indicate that it is update some new titles and exits successfully. However, when running the same command immediately afterwards, it indicates it is updating the same content again. I checked the files, and the tiles that were updated were already in the csv. It also does the same thing with a few titles for XBLA.

2) xm360server doesn't seem to download all the titles, and this is especially noticeable with the DLC database. I ran the perl scripts, and the files sizes are significantly higher for the DLC.csv (~400K vs. ~900K), and to a lesser extent, the XBLA titles as well.

3) When generating reports, should it also show titles that are not matched?

Thanks, for your hard work and donation sent!

Thanks for the detailed description. Without even looking at the code, I know what's wrong. I forgot about the RESC ftp command...it goes through a different codepath. Trivial fix. I'll try to get a 2.0a out ASAP. Nice catch!

Thanks, for your hard work and donation sent!

1) That's because it has no concept of "time". If a title is listed as updated "today", every single time you tell it to update it will fetch the updates.
2) This has never been reported, and is quite worrisome. The perl version doesn't know anything about dates...it just grabs the world. Is the clock/date on your computer correct? Are you downloading from the same region in both cases? Are you downloading from the region with the same clock settings as your PC (that shouldn't matter since it's all GMT).
3) You'll have to clarify what you mean here.

(Not sure if you are talking about a new donation, or an old one...nothing new received, so check where you sent it? Anyway, thanks for the thought! )

Okay, after some PMs from invivo, I understand what's going on.

The reason the perl downloader ends up with a MUCH bigger file that the xm360_server downloader is simply because the perl downloader is stupid.

There are TONS of duplicates in the resulting file. You see, the marketplace lists, for example, Band Hero, and Band Hero II...They both have TONS of DLC...yet, all of the DLC for each is the same. The perl scraper doesn't know this, and grabs them all (and xm360 filters the duplicates). Xm360_server understands this, builds an internal map, and only spits out the unique DLC. So, rest assured, you aren't missing anything by using the server.

As far as noting DLC that you have, but wasn't matched...It's there already. In the "DLC that you have" section of the report, the second column of the CSV file is either "HAVE", or "HAVE_BUT_NOT_IN_DB".

Lastly, donation received, thanks!

Just an observation, but I noticed that the .exe omits some content that the perl script catches. I noticed that several Lips DLC are listed in the perl .csv but not the .exe csv. This may be the case with other content as well. Has anybody else experienced this? (BTW, Region = US)

FSD's ftp will be stable and fast.

node21,

Is there any method to retrieve the free space on a device from xm360?

If not, any chance you could implement some free space reporting in the UI and also via custom FTP command?

I have 640GB internal drive but am constantly near capacity...and have to walk to xbox and switch to other apps to get capacity info.... smile.gif

Getting VERY close to being able to do everything remotely from my computer and FTP to XM360...but this piece still missing smile.gif

I'll put it on the list...there's nothing in there currently.

One more thing I noticed...alot of times it won't list DLC as missing until you have at least 1 piece of DLC for that title (even if title is NOT ignored)...is this expected?
