Recently softmodded my xbox using the programs from this tutorial and followed the instruction from the 'art of hotswaping'. All seem to go ok, backed up c\ to e\.

It boots up the evox dash(?)
I can not save any changes that i make though, skins revert to the default 'project mayhem' once the console is turned off/ reset - i've tried putting the skins in 'c\skin' and 'e\root\skin', deleting the original ones with no success.

Settings change back to default once reboot/shut down,Even changing the evox.ini didn't do anything.

Running the 'iso creator' thing just goes back to the evox dash, Cant load up splinter cell from the disk - i get d\'unknown'.

What have i missed here? corrupt softmod?

Possibly. Or just an old and poor softmod because you used a very old tutorial.

GEt hold of HeXEn 0.99B11-22 or CASH, burn to DVD-R, and use to upgrade your softmod to a newer and better one based on NDURE.

Did you copy the C and E drives to the PC? If so, you can FTP the original C and the E drive with Krazie's Ndure on the E drive. Don't FTP the entire E drive, just put Krazie's where it needs to be and FTP that over. With nothing else on the Xbox, you would have an original Xbox with Krazie's Ndure on there. Run the game and load the exploit and softmod the Xbox again.

Make sure you back up the eeprom and have it on the PC before you do anything. With the eeprom.bin file backed up and safe you can always recover from software mistakes.

Copy the 'c\' was the first thing i did when i ftp'ed into it

I tried to copy over the back up of the 'c\' - wouldn't copy parts of it, and i had deleted the softmod'ed 'c'\, it froze, nothing worked.

made a boot xboxhdm and a copy of the orignal 'c\' in the 'c\' folder, someing went wrong there, so completely rebuilt the hdd with ndure/unleashed.

Then was getting 08,09 and some other errors, Heimdall said it could be the dvd .... and it was
