Obviously there are TONS of different threads on how to the do hardwired 12V mod, but i'm having
a very hard time finding a detailed tutorial on how to install a switch to toggle between 12V and 5V
so my console isn't roaring like jet engines on the dashboard since it's constantly running on 12V.

I'd rather do this than spend money on Talismoons, so can anyone either link me to a thread
dedicated to this mod or even a YouTube video? I also need to know what toggle switches
I can and most importantly, CANNOT use for this. Much appreciated.

all you have to do is wire 5volt from the motherboard to first leg, power wire from the fan to the senond leg and 12v form the motherboard to the third

Not sure if this is any help but I had the same problem so wired switch to toggle just my GPU fan (as the GPU is generally the one that need the extra "oomph") between 8.7v - 12v, as 8.7 is obviously better than 5v but is nowhere near as noisy as 12v.

By the way in the tutorial I mistakingly refer to 8.7v as 7v.

Edit: Sorry was writing this reply whilst the one above was posted.

Excellent! thanks guys, I just used a basic three-prong toggle switch, cut a hole through the back
of the case above the component inputs, soldered everything back together and BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE, a quiet-on-command 360, finally...
