Just like the title says are the ps3 breaks legit?

I ordered this exact one http://www.r4king.com/ps-jailbreak-modchip-for-ps3_p720.html for a friend of mine's launch system and I can't figure out how to use it. Not on the ps3, but on my pc. I'm stumbling to find drivers for it because windows xp won't recognize it. I installed flip 3.4.2 but can't get it to communicate with the device.

What are these preloaded with when you get them? Obviously I can't use it since i f'ed up and updated, but I wanted to ask for my friend, who just updated his console to 3.2x something after playing ufc.

if you have ps3 break v1.0 they are not upgradeable
