I replaced a laser in a 40GB PS3 last night and just as I was about to close the drive back up I noticed that the top flap of the drive loading bay was loose. I clicked it back in place and noticed that
there is was also this tiny piece of metal sitting loosely there which I assume must somehow attach to the top flap of the loading bay and to the top of the inside of the drive casing. I just can't for the the life of me see how this thing attached to the front flap that's on the inside of the drive. Here is a picture of the offending piece.
Now, it appears that the drive works fine without this thing attached although it doesn't accept discs quite as easily as it should in that I have to give it a little push to get it to pull the disc in, where as before it would pull the disc in immediately without having to apply any force to the disc.
If anyone knows how to attach this little bugger please let me know.
