Recently my xbox360 stopped reading games. I could tell the drive was communicating with the drive just fine, it just couldnt read anything(like it would just say open tray after 2secs of reading) so I assumed the drive stopped working. So I bought a replacement (the drive was lite on DG-16D2S btw) and flashed it with the key/original firmware. This replacement drive worked for 2 days, then BAM, the exact same problem as original happened, the box just refuses to read anything. SO my response is what the fuck, is the xbox ruining every dvd drive i put in it?? Has anyone else had this issue or have the slightest clue of what could be happening?

Open Tray errors can usually be fixed by a simple rubber band replacement. Have you tried that?

which rubber band would I replace?? i looked inside the drive and didnt see any

Take the lid off, you can see it right there in the front. It connects the pulley to the drive gear that opens and closes the tray. What happens is the rubber band loses its elasticity and lets the gears slip. I use just a small white rubber band that comes in a bag of many, probably about 1.25" or so across.
