In the middle of an update the dvd drive quit working and nor all i have is a black screen say input update disk with:
PV: 2.0.7363.0
CV: 2.0.8955.0

I have tried:
1. holding the y while booting
2. found the previous update online and booting from a dvd
3. tried booting from a thumb drive


I have tried everything I have read but no luck so far. Any suggestions???
Worst part is I cant even get to the dash board to delete anything from the memory..

Same thing happened to me, if you tried everything there is, time for a reflow or reball. A reflow fixed mine.

I have flowed and reballed already but still have the same problem. I havent ever heard of anyone getting a problem like this before. if anyone knows where I can get more info please let me know. Thanks

You reballed? You know thats like a $60-$100 to reball or to do it your self you need a reballing kit, plus a workstation. Reballing and reflowing is not the same thing you know. How did you reflow the console? Or Reball if you reballed?

I had a somewhat similar issue. someone gave me a 360 that failed during update (I beleave he turned it off during the update progress) and it would not longer boot properly. None of the tricks worked either (holding y, holding the sync button, etc.).

What I did was took a HD that had the latest dash on it (the dash he was updating to was about a version or 2 lower). Plugged it in, and the 360 seen the HD had a newer dash on it, and asked to update, which fixed the update error.

In your case I dont know if this will work or not, but it cant hurt to try.

You will need to download the CV (8955) update to a thumb drive and then it will work.

As the upgrade process has already started, you will need to complete it
