Hey guys,
I purchased a Black Cat usb and was wondering if I could use it as a xbox 360 jtag tool. I got a few hits with the almighty goggle but nothing concrete. What I really want is a diagram of some sort. Thanks for sharing guys.

Same question as above!

The thing is that it can work because the specs look good, but I don't know if nandpro supports it. So this is the problem. You can use the BlackCatUSB utility to get a dump, but will the output file be acceptable for use by FreeBoot programs, I don't know. The only way to find out is to experiment yourself. As long as you wire the flasher to the 360 accordingly and the voltage setting on the programmer itself is correct, then you won't damage your 360. BUT DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! It can work, but it requires more "adapting" on your end. If you're willing to do this, then go ahead.

The BlackcatUSB is actually now capable of reading/writing to the nands with the new beta software , still in Beta so speeds are not optimized and has so far only been tested on 16MB Nands .

Latest software is available at

for the people that wish to test it out.

Thank you so much for this koevoet. I just want to clarify things before I go and wire up my console.
- I don't need any resistors or diodes do I?
- Should it be in 3.3v or 5v mode?
- You marked ground on the diagram, but didn't specify where to put it.
- Is Blackcat USB version 1.7 ok?
Thanks again.

1- no
2- 3.3v
3- look harder at the diagram, specifically the pin numbering
4- if this is refering to a hardware revision it shouldn't matter

Ok you're right. Sorry, I looked at the diagram but got confused by the colors over the numbers. Ground is indeed on there. Everything else looks good, so I should be testing this tonight then

Ok, it looks like it worked! I was able tin install the Blackcat USB version 1.7 and use the software to dump my NAND just fine. One thing I think I should mention to people is to remember to plug in your console when attempting to dump the NAND. I had forgotten that step and it took me a while to realize what went wrong.

I got it to work with the 1.7 version. Successfully dumped the firmware thanks for the diagram but im kind of new to this and im confused as i see that you have to write the firmware using other points. Has anyone managed to write to the NAND?

You use the same points to read/write to the nand , just on some models the size that you write back will differ.

can i also use the blackcat for the matrix glitcher

No the BCUSB can not program the CPLD as of yet.

is point 4 (kiosk) not used? it is marked with a color in the diagram, but it's not marked anywhere on the xbox motherboard... maybe it's obvious that it's not used, but since it IS colored and referenced... i prefered to ask, i don't want to screw up my install, lol

BCUSB is now capable of programming Xilinx CPLD's , so you should now be able to program that device as well .
Full SVF (and XSVF) file format support has been added to BETA 315. This allows programming of many FPGA and CPLD devices, such as the Xilinx Coolrunner chips (XC2C64A etc). In addition, the new JTAG firmware allows you to enable a VCC pin (adjacent to TMS) that can be used to power an additional device, such as the chip you are trying to program (5v or 3.3v, up to 100ma).
