There's no reason why it shouldn't be, as the 49LF020 is a standard 2MBit flash chip, but to be certain you need to open up the Xbox and take a look, to confirm that it is write enabled.

FYI, the latest version of the BIOS Checker is v5.

Heres a picture of my hairy old chip

Doesn't look like theres any switch , can i update it using one of the flashers you start on the xbox or do i have to connect the chip to a flasher?.
