Hey everyone i bought a xbox off ebay today and im going to softmod it when it comes but it already has xbox media center installed how will i uninstall this so i can install unleshx as i have already downloaded Krayzie Ndure Installer v1.1's pack as it sounds like it has no problems and how will i install a larger HDD do i move all files from some HDD to another thanks for any help guys.

Option two
Create the new larger HD to factory then install the Ndure softmod but you'll need the contents from a pre/un-modded Drive C: (If you don't have this check around you should be able to find one somewhere) You follow the same instructions as outlined below and perform the Ndure softmod after the new larger HD is installed!

i have read how to install a bigger HDD but how do i get the contents of a pre/un-modded xbox HDD ?
this is the guide im going to use happy.gif

if the box is already softmoded get a copy of HeXEn, it has the ability to update the softmod, install unleashX and install a new HDD. google "HeXEn (heimdall's xbox engineering disc)" i suggest the 2nd link.

Thank you but will i still need to move the game saves or downloading this and burning it to a disc it should run it cuz the xbox is soft modded right plus i have searched on the net all i can find is torrents and no one is seeding them so do you have this or do you know a direct download of it thanks heaps man you have really helped.
spliff721
even if i did know a direct link, which i dont, i would not be able to post it. its against the rules. im not sure what the rules are about directing you to a spacific site espeacialy torrent sites, but if you go to the 2nd link you find when googling it. it will work.

Thanks heaps Heimdall for making the softmod happy.gif nd can i just use HeXEn to install a larger HDD thanks heaps.
Heimdall
You're welcome. smile.gif HeXEn isn't a softmod, but among other things it installs a Krayzie 1.1.1 or Kingroach NDURE 3.1 softmod. It also implements lxhdm to do softmod hard drive upgrades.

Ok guys the main thing i want to do is back my xbox collection of games i have to the xbox's HDD i just read that XBMC can do this is this true and if so how do i install a larger HDD for XMBC ? thanks heaps again

Edit : ok i just read that it can backup games to the HDD so how do i install a larger HDD for XBMC thanks heaps guys.
spliff721
put HeXEn in it and let it boot.(could take close to a minute for it to boot, and it will turn the LED on the front RED, dont panic.)
choose softmod tools and find LXHDM softmod disk upgrade. read the instructions carefully and follow them. you will need an extra power source so you can run both HDDs at the same time.
once you have finished reboot HeXEn and select install applications. this will among other things install DVD2XBOX. whith this application you can put a game in you DVD drive and it will rip it to your hard drive. if need be, edit the .INI file to point to a directory in which you want your games to be riped to.
its that easy

thank you heaps also i read that i can rip games using the XBMC's file explorer and so to power to HDD's at the same time how do i do that do i need to use my pc ?
http://www.mod-store.com.au/xbox_guide.php?xbmc_game_backup
also can i record my tv using my xbox with XBMC thanks heaps again
spliff721
i do not recomend using the file explorer to rip games as many games have copy protection on them and DVD2XBOX takes measures to nullify that. using the file explorer would not do this and you would probably end up with more than a few games that are not playable.

i do not know about you TV question. i do not think that it works like that. but im sure someone else could answer for sure.

Ok odd i cant edit but is there a way i can just move files to the HDD with out doing the thing you said then XBMC should just run like if i move XBMC to my 1TB hdd cant the xbox just run or it cant plz help thanks
spliff721
The new HDD has to be prepared in a spacific way before it wil work in the xbox. HeXEn is the tool you need to do that. It will prepare the new HDD and softmod it again, then it can also install a new dashboard and all the apps you will need.
Once you have that done find a program called "flashFXP" and install it to your computer. This program will allow you to transfer files to your xbox via the ethernet wire port on the back of the xbox.
if your going to be puting a TB in it you need to do some reading. HeXEn will prep it right but in order to get all the space you will need to use XBpartitioner. There is a search fuction at the top right hand side of this page. Search "1TB HDD upgrade" and read whatever you can find. There is far to much information for any of us to retype here. Reaserch, learn and then if you get hung up at any one point, come back here and we will help. But for the most part any question you could think to ask has already been asked. Use the search function first, then come back here if you cant find your answers.
Heimdall
HeXEn runs XBPartitioner for you as part of the lxhdm new disk installation process - it's the final step.

im just asking someone suggested this guide to me any ideas if it is a good guide its called Chimp i read it and it sounds easy or is your guide just as easy im sorry for asking heaps of questions im new to modding a xbox 1 not modding other consoles though happy.gif im just trying to upgrade and do things the most easiest way thanks heaps again everybody.
Heimdall
They do similar things. Chimp copies your existing installation, HeXEn builds you a clean Kingroach NDURE 3.1 softmod from scratch. Use whichever one you feel most comfortable with.

If you're using Chimp make sure you use the latest version - 2618.

Before you jump feet first into upgrading the HD and changing the softmod, there are a few things you should do.

First, FTP the C and E drives to the PC for a backup. Make sure the eeprom.bin file is included. It should be on the E drive in a temp or back up folder.

Second, play around with the Xbox to learn what you can do with it. You may like XBMC as the dash.

Third, check to see if the Xbox can be TSOP flashed. If it can, you can put in your hard drive and use Slayer's to build a new HD with just the Xbox.

Before you begin all these steps, take some time to do some reading here. While you wait on your Xbox to arrive, this would be a good time.

There are many people here that have problems because they move too fast and don't back up their existing files. The eeprom.bin file is THE MOST IMPORTANT file for a soft mod. With it you can build a new drive from scratch and lock it to the Xbox it came from.

I read somethings it doesn't have a mod chip its just a softmod thanks anyway though.
also the HDD i have is a Seagate ST31000528AS 1000 GB 7200RPM no buffer and its SATA so how will i install it if the xbox only has IDE cords.
spliff721
firtst off TSOP flashing has nothing to do with having a chip. it is its own way of modding a box and has almost all the features of having a chip. it usually requires you solder a couple of points together on the motherboard.
second, the thing about the sata drive has been answered to death if you did a bit of searching as i suggested earlier. it has its own stickied post in one of the forum catagories. in the intrest of being nice and because i enjoy helping i will point you to it.

1TB sata HDD upgrade

but as 1hotjob has said. there is no better way to get things done right the first time than to take your time and read, and READ CAREFULY, any information you can find on a subject. that is where the search function comes in and your initiative to find and learn the answers to your problem. there is literaly days worth of reading on just about any and every subject you could possibly want to know about. at the very least, i suggest you look through each catagory and read up on any of the stickies that may apply to something you wish to know about.

When I first joined this site I spent days reading through the posts trying to answer my own questions and not wanting to sound like an idiot with my own problems. I knew absolutely nothing about the Xbox. I had bought a modded Xbox and all my friends wanted me to mod theirs. After reading and learning all I could on my own, I began to ask questions about what I couldn't find. People were very helpful.

One thing that I read in many posts is this: You are here to learn, not to be spoon fed. I took that to heart and would read pages of a topic that I was trying to learn.

There is way more to learning about the Xbox than we can type in this topic. We are always here to help, but you will get better results if you show you are trying to learn and come back with questions you may have about a subject.

It took me a long time to learn about the link and quote buttons above. If there is a question about something you read, either post a link to it or copy the text and put it in a quote so we can read what you read.

Sorry about the rambling and my intention isn't to make you feel unwelcome here. We will try to help you in anyway possible.
BuraddoX
Thank yous very much for helping me so i was reading the 1TB SATA HARD DRIVE post and people on there were saying that SATA HDD's don't work very well is that true cuz if it is i don't really want to have to buy another HDD as i bought this one thanks again i am reading heaps of post and guides so everything works out good happy.gif.
spliff721
the HDDs work just fine, its the converters that are hit and miss. do a bit more research and perchase one that has been recamended by somone that has completed the mod.
i have not done this mod yet, but it is in my near future. i know i have read somewhere of a properly working converter.
anyway, what your looking for is SATA to IDE converter. they make them so that they plug right into the back of your SATA drive and provide a compact conversion to IDE.

Personally I use a 200-250 gig drive for Xbox games and some media. I have a home NAS system I stream audio, video and pictures to every Xbox I have. It is a lot simpler for multiple Xbox set ups. If you are going to have one Xbox, I can see the allure of having everything on there, but you can still stream media from a shared folder on the PC.

I tried a couple of adapters in the PC, but never worked for me. I wouldn't want to deal with the irritation of trying to find a good one. There are some posts that will give you a good model to use though. Good luck with it.
BuraddoX
Thanks heaps guys im still reading up on stuff to make sure i do everything fine but i know i will cuz you's have helped with everything happy.gif i will let yous know how it go's when i change the HDD in it happy.gif.
plus im also going to try and get a HD cable so i can output to HD on my 720P HD tv it can output higher to 1080i 1080P so yeah i read a guide about it in heimdall's sig it sounds like a good guide thanks again.
BuraddoX
Hey everyone i got my Xbox today and it runs perfect the only sort of problem is the dvd tray it gets stuck sometimes so all i have to do is hold the tray up just a bit and it works fine but i was trying to do FTP and didn't know how to do it i have searched heaps of guides up i tried for hours but no luck i want to FTP using XBMC offline i don't want to use the internet for it but thanks heaps for all the help as everything is super good cuz i know how to run everything proper becuz of you's happy.gif.
ps the dude i bought it off from ebay gave me the Microsoft High-Definition AV Pack for free cuz he couldn't post it on a certain day so all i need is a component cord so i can get HD happy.gif and i need a IDE to SATA to install my 1TB HDD happy.gif
