From happy_bunny on xboxhacker.org: [QUOTE] I have back ported (mainly copy and pasted) gligli work to xell so now xell has hdmi support heres the updated binary
all credits go to guru's gligli and cOz for their hard work. I will upload the source file soon, it needs cleaning up first but its getting late so thats a job for another day.
*Update* ok so I clean up the source files and created a patch, can someone try patching this against the git free60 xell I have not tested this patch, if it dont work I will just upload the modified source files [/QUOTE]

It s well known that xell didn't support HDMI until now.

This scene is great and it works even better if people take the time to actually RTFM.

May I ask why you are not using HDMI now? I mean how often do you really need to boot into xell anyway?

Nice Work

Is the hdmi support also added for the xellous, or is it for the xell only?

It's working fine on my Zephyr (AUD_CLAMP) and looks a lot better. I swear it's much slower though, the Gentoo Live CD loaded so slowly...
Shame about losing Xellous though. I'm assuming it's either one or the other unless redline99 decides to update Xellous.

Im assuming that we place the xell-update1.bin onto a usb stick and load xell by pressing the eject button and update the same way we would if flashing a nand image?

Before people get overly excited, this will overwrite Xellous and you will loose all the additional functions of Xellous such as being able to flash and dump the NAND.
You can however launch it through XellLaunch, it's a huge step forward for Linux or atleast is in my opinion.

So, I need rename it to install via xellous?
What name should I use?
tk_saturn
Feb 6 2011, 06:15 PM
TO INSTALL:
dump flashdmp.bin
CODE
nandpro flashdmp.bin: -e16 30 20
nandpro flashdmp.bin: +W16 xell-update1.bin 30 10
nandpro flashdmp.bin: +W16 xell-update1.bin 40 10
Rename flashdmp.bin to updflash.bin and flash.
When I said it worked via XellLaunch, I hex edited the file to get it to work.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4U4GBFBF Copy XellLaunch from the DashLaunch V2.07/V2.08 archive and copy to your storage device. Place xell.bin in the root of the storage device, or in the same directory as XellLaunch.

Black screen when i launch XellLaunch... if i remove xell.bin XellLaunch found xell in the nand and start (video composite)...

i downloaded the bin, linked on the front page, copied it in the xelllaunch directory, renamed it to xell.bin and started the xelllaunch default.xex but it doesnt work.
all i get is a black screen.
my console is connected through hdmi, tried 1080p and 720p, i have dash-launch 2.08 installed...
does anyone have a idea how to fix this?
EDIT:
sorry, fixed it myself, tried a different bin from logic-sunrise and that one worked fine.

Logic-Sunrise pinched the file I linked to above, which I hex edited to work. The original file posted is a xell-1f.bin and is for use without rebooters and won't work with XellLaunch. I hex edited this to a xell-2f.bin type xell so it can be used with rebooters.
Check the CRC of the file on LS and the file I already uploaded to MU, and you'll see they are the same.

it seems it doesn't work if you use the dongle for the analog/optical audio output in conjunction with the hdmi cable.
with dongle attached: no signal on both my tv and my monitor.
with dongle detached: works like a charm.
i tried only the xell.bin that works through xelllaunch.
bye!

I've removed the dongle for the analog/optical audio output and now fine, thanks! :-)

Quite possibly unrelated but is this issue related to AUD_CLAMP wiring?
HDMI 5.1 doesn't work IIRC if you have this wiring method.
Cornell
Feb 8 2011, 02:53 PM
well, i have wired the AUD_CLAMP, indeed. i didn't know of any issue about HDMI 5.1, but in my opinion this is unrelated. i'm not an expert, however.
Perhaps Erario can confirm this, since he had the same issue.

Just so everyone knows... Their is a lot more work being done on LibXenon and Xell . If you are a linux nut you can install Debian Squeeze and if you want Ubuntu 10.10 now. The newer kernels have an IRQ issue which is being worked on by some talented individuals on the scene. It's only an issue when running at full speed through Xell launch if you power on with eject it doesn't have that problem but the system is not running at full speed.
We need to start getting more interested in this legal homebrew and try to get some more developers working on software for it. I myself am not a coder but I test software daily for these guys. I can assist in getting the toolchain installed and working on your Linux machine, and I can also help with getting Linux installed on your HDD.
The
free60WiKi is being updated much more frequently now, you can find most of the useful information on the main page now such as Linux distros and instructions on building the cross compiler. Even if you aren't a coder their is still work that you can help with on the WiKi find tuxuser on IRC in #libxenon if you want to help.
You can shoot me a PM if you need help with Linux as long as you know enough about it that i can help, i can't hold your hand entirely but if i tell you what commands to type and you can do it that's good enough.
Have a good day Xbox-Scene, Juggahaxor.

Can i update my existing xell version without opening my 360?
i think flash360 can only flash a whole nand and not only the xell part

I wouldn't flash a *work in progress* version myself. If you have the old Xell, updating to Xellous would be a good idea for the time being, or just wait. You can try this version with XellLaunch no problem.

You're better off using the Xell Reloaded they have on the Tux's libxenon forum, just rename the xell-2f.bin to Xell.bin and place that in the XellLaunch directory.

I have a xenon with freeboot 12611. Just updated it to dash launch 2.2.
I also have an xcm white 360 HDMI 1080p Cable which allows me to use HDMI on a xenon console connected. When I use the xelllaunch from dash launch 2.2 along with the xell.bin from the previous pages, the system reboots but I'm unable to see anything. There is no video signal received by the TV.
However, the controller light is on for controller one.
Any suggestions on how I can also use xell hdmi with this setup? Perhaps there is a way for those with hdmi adapters on non HDMI consoles to be able to in future releases.
TIA

Thanks for all the info provided in this thread. I was able to get the fix on Tuxuser libxenon forum.
