I have a Hitachi 78 spoofed to be a 79 on 1.51 firmware. I've been wanting both to flash it to the newer version and "IF" maybe get xbox live as I've never had one.

You can certainly try, but it's likely you will get banned at some point, especially if you use older, detectable firmware. LT+ is the only firmware for Hitachis that's LIVE "safe", with safe meaning you won't get insta-banned (yet).

Also, having a spoofed drive is detectable, and will likely lead to a ban.

The rule of flashed consoles is that if you go on LIVE, you will get banned at some point. It's a question of when, not if.
