Is this a bad idea with a duox 2 gs to a 1.0 mobo? I thought it might be easier because I wouldn't have to take the solder out of the lpc port holes. Good idea? I really just want to go for it, because it will also be less likely to get outright smushed under my dvd drive.

If you can solder, its not a bad idea, but if the chip were to die its a lot easier to remove one from a pinheader than it is to desolder the whole chip. If you can solder, you can easily clean out the LPC and put in a pinheader.

I agree with justtaint. I've done both and I have to say, the pinheader install is a much better option. And easier in the long run.
