Is it possible to use a 2.5in laptop hard drive in the xbox?

i looked up on the compatibility chart and it says its compatible

its a laptop IDE one though, what would i need to use if this can be done?

It will work just fine. You'll need an IDE adapter for it though, this should be perfect.
