I'm pretty sure impossible as there is no source code available.

Great game, and freeware now too. You can get it on fileplanet if EA is hiding it on their C&C page.
OpenRA may be of interest for the old C&C games but these are already playable on Xbox with pcsxbox and dosxbox.
Idk about any hardware acceleration for OpenRA, and it may need a port of Mono 2.6 before you can get anywhere.
Doesn't seem too worth it, as you would only benefit from higher resolutions for multiplayer games.

If people are looking for a RTS that needs porting and actually has source files,
MechCommander 2 is open source.
