I know this has been posted probably 100 times already, but I can't seem to solve my problem. I have my xbox hooked up via Ethernet, pinged it with success, went to connect to it in FlashFXP with the right username, password, and default gateway (my computers IP) and still not luck. it gives me this exact list as seen in a previous topic I found on Google:
WinSock 2.0
Connecting to 192.168.0.3
Connected to 192.168.0.3 -> IP=192.168.0.3 PORT=21

PWD

200 Port command ok.

I read that topic and the guy installed a new FTP program, problem solved. This seems to be a reoccurring solution for many people in topics I've read, but still no luck with that route for me. Can anyone give me any new information or just regurgitate the old information to help me along to find out what is going on here and why it is doing this?

What dash are you running on the xbox when you try to FTP in?
Looks like a permissions error from the log you've posted. Either that, or a firewall is blocking some communication to the xbox. Any firewall software running on the PC?

I'm running EvoX and I did change the password, if that's of any significance, but I've been using the password which I changed it to. I have my firewall accepting FlashFXP. Could it be the kind of cable I'm using? I understand there are different kinds of Ethernet. Like CAT5 and such. I tried 2 different cables. One that came from my Verizon modem and one that I just found. One is significantly thicker than the other so I thought it would work, but no luck.

Think about it - if you can ping the Xbox from your PC then it can't be the cable.
It seems we need to get back to basics. How is your Xbox connected to your PC - via a crossover cable, or through a switch / router? If you are connected via a swicth / router, are you using DHCP or manual IP addresses.
What is your Xbox IP address?
What is your PC IP address while connected to your Xbox?
Have you tried disabling your firewall?
Have you tried using Filezilla?

I'm directly connected to my Xbox via my computer. My Xbox IP is 192.168.0.69 and my computer's IP is now 192.168.0.8, the string of text before was taken from another person's post in another topic but is exactly like the one I am receiving with the only difference being the IPs. I have not disabled my firewall, but I did add FlashFXP to my firwall's allow list. I have not tried Filezilla, but I tried CuteFXP or whatever it is. I'll try Filezilla and get back to you.

Disable your firewall. Takes a few seconds, and it's the most likely cause of your problem.
Also, try running XBMC or UnleashX, or try booting with HeXEn or AID (both use UnleashX), because they support passive FTP which is more firewall friendly.

Disabled the firewall and it worked perfectly, thanks. Now it won't let me lock a HDD. Fix one problem, just to find another >.<

Out of interest, which firewall was it?
When you say "it won't let me lock a HDD", which "it" do you mean? Are you trying to lock the disk on a chipped / flashed Xbox, or are you using xboxhdm to lock the disk on a PC?

It was just the basic Windows 7 firewall, I disabled public and private just in case.
And by "it" I mean I am using a PC with a linux mod disc. My computer keeps telling me that the Primary Master Drive is frozen, but I can't seem to unfreeze it. Someone in another topic said to disable auto detection in the bios, but I cant find where I can do that. I have a new motherboard I got, literally, 3 days ago, and I don't know all it's bells and whistles. It's a Biostar G41-M7 if that helps at all.

May 9 2011, 03:38 AM
So you're using xboxhdm 1.9? The Biostar G41-M7 motherboard only has one IDE port, so you need to use xboxhdm 2.2 and boot from USB.

>.< crap. Ok, thanks. Do I need to format the USB like a CD/DVD or can I just put the files on and boot it directly?

You need to read the xboxhdm 2.2 tutorial.......

Alright Heimdall, it appears that I've been sent back to square one. I installed the new bigger HDD successfully, but now I can't ftp to it. I can't even get a ping to work. Any ideas?

Does the Xbox boot? If not, what is the error number? Which dash is it booting to? Is the LED above the network connection lit? Is it flashing occasionally? Have you manually set the IP address as before? Can you boot a rescue disc, like HeXEn?

the xbox works just fine other than the ftp problem. i can boot up and play burned games out of the evox dash just cant connect ftp. i didnt change anything on the xbox this time and i made the network settings changes as necessary.

The network LED? What are the IP addresses of the Xbox and the PC? Firewall turned off? Tried a different dash? What about a rescue disc?
Futs6992
May 12 2011, 04:22 AM
Network LED? where is that? and the IP of the computer is 192.168.0.8 and the xbox is 192.168.0.3 and it's gateway is 192.168.0.8
Heimdall

On the Xbox. It isn't that big, a couple of seconds of looking will reveal its location.
What about the other questions?
Futs6992
May 13 2011, 11:06 PM
I really have no clue where the network LED is. And yes. The Xbox IP is 192.168.0.3 and Def Gateway is 192.168.0.8 to correspond with my computer being the same. I'm really sick of this thing not working. I'm considering just unlocking the HDD, loading it up, locking it, and putting it back in, but that seems like more effort than it's worth. Any suggestions?
I see 2 lights, an orange blinking and a green, next to the ethernet port if that is the network LED. I can't think of what else it could be.

Futs6992
May 15 2011, 05:53 PM
My firewall is turned off, I haven't tried another dash because it won't let me install one, and HeXEn wouldn't work when I tried to boot the disc, but Slayer's did and it reset my softmod when I tried to install XBMC

I'm still waiting on a reply here. I'm stuck at this point and can't go any further until this is fixed. I even said screw it and unlocked my HDD to try and just directly plug it into my computer to put files on it, but it didn't work because the file system isn't recognized. PLEASE, can someone help me solve my FTP problem? I've been watching and reading tutorial after tutorial and posting topic's on forum sites all over the place. I just can't get it to work. HELP?!
I keep trying to ping the xbox and keep getting "Destination host unreachable" Not sure if this is helpful in diagnosing my problem, but figured it was worth mentioning.

sometimes shutting off the firewall will NOT work and that you HAVE to enable the xbox ip address as being allowed (sygate firewall was a good example. You HAD to make it an allowed rule (under advanced rules) otherwise even shutting the firewall program, it would not let the connection go through). SO allow the connection in your firewall and then see if it works (in your case it would be to allow the 192.168.0.3 address)
