I have a copy of Slayer's 2.7, but when I told it to install XBMC nothing new showed up on my dash. My Xbox won't FTP so all I want to do is install XBMC along side or even over top of my current EvoX dash with simply a CD/DVD. Is this possible? If so, where can I find this? I googled it and found an auto-installer website, but the instructions along with the files are too vague and really are targeted at someone who knows what they're doing which is clearly not me. I just need a simple ISO, or IMG, or something burnable that I can put in, click a button, and install. Does this exist or am I just screwed until I learn a lot more about the setup?

HeXEn (Heimdall's Xbox Engineering Disc) will do what you want.
How is your Xbox modded?
Why can't you FTP to your Xbox?

It was softmodded via hotswap using xbhdm 1.9 and idk why it won't FTP, but it wont.

Btw, I was also hoping to find a guide on how to install the PSX emulator without FTP if that's even possible. Everything I've seen has been just putting the files from the zip into the Apps folder on the Dash via FTP.

Anything you can do via FTP you can do by copying the files to a DVD-R and using your dashboard file manager to copy them from the DVD to your hard drive.

Well I just tried a copy of HeXEn from Demonoid, but my Xbox won't even read it. I tried a CD and a DVD and it just tells me there's no disc. Also, I just tried to install XBMC using Slayer's 2.7 and now I can only boot to the xbox dashboard and I can't get back to my EvoX or anything else. Basically, Slayer's reverted my softmod >.< dammit.

Isn't that odd. Slayers, where the instructions CLEARLY tell you not to use it on a softmod as it will remove the softmod, has removed your softmod. Now, who would have guessed that?
HeXEn works if you extract it from the rar and burn the iso image to DVD-R using DVD decrypter 3.5.4.0 or any other iso image burning tool - but in your case you'll need to redo your softmod first.

So the part in Slayer's where it's an EvoX installer and a XBMC installer and all that stuff is what? Backwards? It just uninstalls your softmod? Clearly I'm missing something. And I burned the HeXEn with the basic Windows 7 disc image burner, I'll try the decrypter instead then.

Slayer's isn't backwards, it's designed for chipped / flashed Xboxes, and it clearly tells you NOT to use it on softmods. It's also really old, and installs a very old version of XBMC, but that's a different issue.
The most important thing about the burning is that you burn to DVD-R at 4x or slower using an ISO image burner.

Well I burned the disc, I got the application to open up from my EvoX dash, now what do I do? All I really want to do is install XBMC. Where, in the menu, do I go? I did the install applications, and I have a 160 gb hdd so I put it on the F drive?

You don't open HeXEn from the Evox dash, you cold boot with it in the DVD drive. First thing you should do is use one of the one-click softmod install options (option 2.1.x or 2.2.x) to make sure your softmod is properly installed. Next, install XBMC to E (option 4.1).

Done and done, but I still can't open XBMC because it says there is no shortcut. I used the file explorer to check and there is no file in the xbmc.cfg folder in the shortcuts folder

xbmc.cfg should be a file, not a folder. I have vague recollections of encountering a similar problem some time ago, but not while running HeXEn. Can you delete the xbmc.cfg folder from the file manager?
Also, can you run XBMC (E:\Apps\XBMC\default.xbe) from UnleashX file manager?

I can run it as an app so it's no worries at this point. I have it installed and that's really all I was after. Now I need to figure out how to update the skin to the 360 skin and add emulators to the HDD. I put the files on a disc and tried to copy them to the HDD with the file explorer like you said before, but it keeps telling me that the disc is empty. I placed them on a CD-R formatted like a flash drive. Is this the correct method/can you help me fix my ftp problem so I don't need to use this method?

XBMC Installer Deluxe will also do it

It won't if your Xbox is softmodded with Krayzie or Kingroach.

Use a DVD-R, not a CD-R.

It shouldn't matter if its CD-R pr DVD-R (provided you have a phillips or samsung drive) just make sure you're burning the IMAGE (.iso) and not just making a Data disc.
