Hi,
I got hold of an xbox360 for free, my mate gave it to me becuase he couldn't fix the Rrod. I managed to fix it. So while I had it taken apart I decided to softmod it...The whole process seemed to go ok according to the tutorial I was following, but, how do I know if it actually worked?

You'll need to create a backup of one of your games. Check the
backup forum for more info and tutorials.

Cheers for the reply... I'm gonna go out and get some dual layer dvds tomorrow so I can backup my games, until then, shouldn't I be able to ftp into my xbox?

If you just flashed the DVD-ROM (which is the only softmod available), no. The only thing custom DVD-ROM firmware allows is the running of backed up games.
