Surreal64 B5.5 - Community Edition

Latest edition of Surreal64, by and for the community wink.gif

Surreal64 stands on the shoulders of giants. Along with the very talented core and plugin developers, many people have poured their hard work into this project over the years. Starting from the original teams release of Surreal64 1.0, which was later then picked up by freakdave, after which Team XXX carried the torch for quite some time. At which point, I was able to give Surreal a little attention and carry it a little further. Since then, freakdave and weinerschnitzel have been the torchbearers, working hard to push the envelope.

Together, we've managed to really polish this emulator package into something we're all proud of and enjoy using. This has also opened the doors for many new GUI features that have been taken advantage of by some very skilled graphic artists. Not to mention all the hard work on the configuration files.

Without further ado, we bring to you - Surreal64 CE B5.5 smile.gif

Fantastic work on the emulator! If only PCSXbox was this polished...

Games look great running in 720p and my overall experience with this update has been superb.

Not sure how many people know this, but there are quite a few N64 games that support 16:9 widescreen. This allows you to play in non-stretched 720p.

Some 16:9 games off the top of my head are:
Goldeneye 007
Banjo Tooie
Perfect Dark
Donkey Kong 64
Turok 2
Jet Force Gemeni

I'm sure there's a few more; most games by Rareware have a 16:9 option.

Yes they support 16:9 but from my testing it seems that when you enable that in the games they crash in the emulator.
weinerschnitzel
Setting 16x9 in game doesn't change anything video related, it just squishes the screen. I'd say those crashes are from running out of ram, or using UltraHLE which is known to crash anyway. Banjo Tooie works great for me using the widescreen mode. Unfortunately all those games are a heavy load on the xbox and can be slow.
cricri_pingouin
I didn't have time to update until today, but I'm glad I spared few minutes before going to bed: I played a quick Mario Kart 64 game, and the emu played superbly love.gif So big thanks to all who contributed to the development gift.gif

Xbox is still rockin!!! cool.gif

THANK YOU to all of the people who are still developing for the best console evar. This one is especially good because N64 is probably my second favorite console of alltime.
