I have downloaded the video clips from my Panasonic SD700 to iMac during the trip to Yellowstone National Park. There is built-in trimming in the camcorder, but it is not easy to process with the 2.7-inch LCD screen. There are some large files with more than one hour, and I would like to trim one file into 4 different files.
How can I edit the 1080p videos in FCP 6 without rendering?

I have learned about your problem and here I will offer some useful suggestions to you. I hope you can get help from my suggestions. In my opinion, maybe you need a tool which can cut the video into several parts and convert them to ProRes format in order to be edited in the FCP 6. I know a software can meet your needs, that is Aunsoft Final Mate for Mac. It has helped me deal with many videos. I used it to convert MTS videos into MP4 format as I want to watch a football match which I took part in on iPod. And I know this software can also cut videos into several parts with high quality. So I share it with you hoping it can help you solve the problem.

I do not really understand what you said, can you tell me "what software" ? or you can tell me a detailed step.
I would be grateful
