Ok. QUICK TUTORIAL FOR XLINUX. i have used it many times to fix my own broken box after E Drive boot gone wrong , and to flash a v1.2 Winbond TSOP using Raincoat .51
Burn xlinux1.2c.iso from xbins (i figure u know where , i found it under PC/Hdd Apps)
performe swap method (see x-s for tutorials..)
Dont stress if u get a HDD Master fail , ect.. MINE DID but xlinux worked fine
Make sure CDROM (with xlinux iso) is on primary master second ide channel
BOOT PC from CDROM (xlinux)
press enter when u get the xlinux screen
XLINUX NOW BOOTS
(if u get errors , it normally mean the xbox harddrive isnt unlocked)
it will hang on a certain line.. (u will know when) press CTRL + C
try gogo (to mount xbox harddrive)
NOW.. my CDROM wasnt mounted using GOGO , so it wouldnt copy anything
To fix. Mount manually using mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdd /mnt
to find the xlinux CD use: cd mnt
To Copy files use: cp
eg.
cp /mnt/xsaves/* /xbox/udata/
If anyone has problems , i will make a more detailed tutorial.
and ONCE U FINISH , type: reboot
(to clear the filesystem , and unmount xbox drive clearly)

I renamed files by using: cp
so: cp xbox.xtf xboxxtf.olf
ls = dir
cd = change directory
cp = copy

woohoo! it worked a treat.. xlinux boot cd is the bomb for the HD swap trick!!
also: name your font files before you put them on the xbox hd, i found xlinux had trouble with the spaces in XBox Book.xtf

Its simple to add a file with spaces, just put quotation marks around the file!
Example:
cp "Xbox Book.xtf" /mnt/xbox
mv bert.xtf ./"Xbox Book.xtf" etc...
simple...

For those having trouble getting Xlinux to boot - as I did -
Use Smart Boot Manager, download the DOS version and install it, boot with the floppy in the drive.
Pick the CD-ROM option
It WILL boot xlinux then!! W00t!
You can get it at:
http://btmgr.sourceforge.netI guarantee it WILL solve your NON bootable CD problems!
