can i plug usb externals sata plug into internal enclosure power it with extrnal hard drive enclosure power and format it like it was a internal hard drive with 1 terabyte drive? this is with a jtag 360 thanks
Aldanga
I have no idea what you're asking. Can you rephrase?
leo5150
take a external hard drive plug its sata into the 360,s internal hard drive connector and power it with external enclosure format hard drive like it was a regular 360 drive, this is with a jtag 360
Aldanga
I don't know why it wouldn't. It's kind of a convoluted way of going about it, but it should work.

well if you know how to do this ill do it, how do i format a 1 terabyte external hard drive for use as usb external and get jtag 360 to see and use it? thanks pop.gif

If you plug it directly into the internal SATA, the console should recognize it and allow you to format it. You won't need to do anything special with it.

with a 1 terabyte and a jtag? well what if i just want to use the external as a external usb how do i format a 1 terabyte drive so the 360 will see correct size and use it? thanks
Aldanga
Yep. The dashboard has been hacked to allow that.

If you want to use it as an external drive, you'll need to format it as FAT32. Windows (which I'm assuming you're using) doesn't allow formatting such large partitions using FAT32, so you'll need to do it via the command prompt or use a third-party program. If you want to format via command prompt, the command is format drive /fs:fat32 where drive is the letter of your external. The drive won't function identically as compared to an internal drive, but it will be usable.

will this work? http://www.pendriveapps.com/format-fat32-larger-than-32gb/ its called gui format oh and what allocation unit size should i use? thanks
Aldanga
Most likely. I would leave it at whatever the default is. I don't know enough about FAT32 to advise otherwise.
