I have 3 xboxes at home. 2 v1.6 and one 1.4. There are three kind of DVD drives inside. Thomson, Hitachi and Philips.

The Hitachi nearly reads everything also my Boot DVD. So I thought I could take out the Hitachi of my v1.6 and take it inside of the 1.4 for installing the Boot DVD.

But when I have build it in, the DVD doesnt start. It hangs on the Xbox logo and does nothing. When I take it back in the 1.6 it works correctly. Does anybody also have such an error?

Besides that I bothe have the same IDE->Sata adapter inside. But like I said only the 1.6 I can install. Can anybody help me?

This should work fine. How is your 1.4 xbox modded?

my 1.4 has a tsop flash inside with IND-5003 bios on. first I thought the bios might be wrong so I updated from x2 4282 to IND-5003. but it changed nothing.

It has also 128MB Upgrade inside.

now I have burned a boot dvd for my 1.4 xbox. it works correctly with the original hdd. but when i connect my sata->ide adaptor inside, it doesnt boot anymore. it hangs on the xbox logo.

what can i do?

Is this a new SATA HD in your 1.4 or did it come out of another xbox? and what "boot disc" are you using?

no its the same that I have inside my PS2 and my other xbox v1.6. Iam using exusers boot dvd 5.5 but I dont think that it is a problem with the boot disc, because without the adaptor inside it works without problems.

Ok, Then format the drive with a PC to clean everything off it, and then try it again in your xbox.

already tried this. it still doesnt work. also tried the sata->ide adaptor which works inside my 1.6 and putted it inside my 1.4. there it doesnt work anymore.

nobody else any idea?

try powering up the sata->ide adaptor with a external usb inclosure or PC then wait a few seconds

to turn the xbox on
