A long time ago, I used this guide (http://www.xboxscene.com/articles/usb-port.php) and added a USB port to my xbox.. I added it to use a keyboard, and it worked, I was able to use the keyboard for typing instead of the buttons on the controller.
I was just curious as to know what else I could use it for.. external storage or playing media from a USB drive?

You are now finished! Get a copy of xbox-linux and get ready to rock it!

The USB port can be used for flash drives but the max capacity you can use is 4GB. You can plug a USB hub into it and get more ports to use like for a mouse and such. I know XBMC supports a mouse as well as any Linux distro.
