I have an xbox with a Samsung Model SDG-605 that always shows as open in any dashboard. This wouldn't be a problem except it is causing very long startup times for the xbox, like 3 minutes or longer. When I put in a drive from another xbox it boots up perfect and shows the drive is closed.
What is my best option to force the drive to read as always closed. I would rather not by another drive as it would never get used anyways (this is simply for a media player)

Update...I have the dvd stripped to just the board and still get the same thing. Xbox shows the blob screen then goes black for...well long enough for to write this. Tried two other dvd drives now and both boot right away into XBMC so i am hoping i can jumper a wire on the dvd drive cable and force it to show as closed.
