abgx360: DAE.bin Silently Updated on XBL on Current Dashboard *Update2*
Posted by XanTium | November 17 00:57 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From abgx360.net:
DAE.bin is being silently updated through Xbox Live with an additional challenge table! This happens on the current public dashboard version 2.0.13604.0 and there is no confirmation dialog or any known means to prevent it besides disconnecting your console from the internet.

If your DAE.bin has already been silently updated, AP25 backups that are patched with current AP25 replay data will fail the normal AP25 challenges outright! Note that all XGD3 games use AP25.

Use your originals if you want to play on Xbox Live.
*Update1* More about it from c4evaspeaks.com:
First and foremost, a warning — at this current time it is advised that you stay offline and avoid playing any AP2.5/XGD3 backups. It has been confirmed by the team that the dae.bin is now being silently updated on all LIVE-connected boxes.

This update is not being deployed via a SystemUpdate or TitleUpdate, but rather occurs in the background without any visual indication or prompt to the user. As such, there is no means by which it can be cancelled or avoided, other than not connecting to LIVE. If you’ve connected to LIVE in the past 24 hours, your system has likely already been updated with a changed dae.bin.

All AP2.5/XGD3 backups that contain the now older AP25 replay data will fail the system’s AP2.5 challenges and indeed flag your system (the flagging has also been confirmed by the team).

Like our news a few days ago, the dae.bin is now being changed by way of an appended challenge table in the same manner on current retail dashes (13604) as it is on the preview dash (14686), however the content of the challenge tables differ. The team has determined that the appended challenge table appears to be unique per console and contains indentifying information. This means that everyone’s dae.bin is different, and can potentially be traced back to your specific console. Therefore, sharing your dae.bin with others is not advisable.
*Update2* abgx360.net:
The Fall 2011 preview dashboard version 2.0.14692.0 is now rolling out. If you are in the preview and accept the update, it will now actively use the additional DAE challenge table and AP25 backups that are patched with current AP25 replay data will fail the normal AP25 challenges outright!

This is getting harder and harder.

Was just reading about this on ixtreme.net. My MW3 quit working but my saints row 3 and battlefield 3 are working fine. I read on the other site that a guy called and complained because his original copy of need for speed was giving him the error as well so they took him off of the ban list and told him that they will be banning in the next 48 hours.
He said we all need to call MS and complain because it could be a mistake on their part but i doubt it.

Until we find a solution to the new challenges written into dae.bin for backups, STAY THE HELL OF LIVE!

abgx will always be on top of AP, only time will tell though...
gamesquest1
awww, newflash xbox live looses lots of users
X4life3
I heard there are a bad batch of legit MW3 going around, so if you got flagged playing that your most likely safe. And it looks like from now on only sammys and old hitachis are going to play backups.

Samsung drives with latest ixtreme are still safe correct, since they don't do ap25 checks?

I assume so since that drive can't handle AP 2.5

If each DAE table is per console this means one may have to regularly dump the NAND to grab the DAE.bin every time a new one rolls out , If that is the case I see a new form of AGBX with a DAE correction tab...just speculation

Kudos to M$ for the per console change..sorry have to give credit to them for a good idea on their part. I'm curious now if the change was to stick it to C4e or to the ODE devices?

I think it's time for C4E to give up on a LIVE compatible firmware and release a firmware that fully defeats AP2.5 in all aspects, but not LIVE friendly... I'm sure he's got something up his sleeve!

I have a theory... but it's too complicated... since Samsung can't handle AP 2.5, using RGH we may alter the nand to believe the original drive is a samsung via OSIG, in other words, jump from OSIG 2 to OSIG 1 and that way any drive will ignore AP 2.5, but when updating it might get corrected... unless you have a spare samsung drive always there to update everytime, of course.... only applies to PHAT consoles.

No point in making a non-live firmware, you can just do the rgh. The only console you cant is on xenons and most have drives that doing support AP 2.5 anyways. And you wont need verbs anymore, i see alot of homebrew in the future.

Agreed, but you are missing 1 point.. and that is that there are some unglitchable consoles and the new Corona... so that will end sooner than later as well.

Dammit. I just bought $200.00 on verbatims, drives, and other xecuter parts. I sure hope C4eva figures this out! uhh.gif

No one knows yet. The only thing certain is that reflashing your drive isn't going to help.

Well I have a jasper with liteon and I have a test Sammy (Not spoofed as liteon, clean sammy) with latest LT 2.01 and teh serial number from Liteon

It works fine actually i can play games BUT I cant play AP25 games for some reason.

So if sammy dosent have AP25 checks why it wont play AP25 games?

I can confirm this to be true. Here is what happened when I tried to load COD MW3 just now:

I was just on xbox live a few minutes ago... played for hours never ran into any problem

edit: just did a bit more readin, I have a samsung drive =/
gamesquest1
well luckily i have a hitachi 59 in my live console, havnt used it in a year thought as i prefer my jtag anyway, not a big fan of live anyway

actually....i seem to remeber seeing a NAND write protect switch mod a while back, this would prevent them writing to NAND atleast but suppose they could always switch to storing DAE on any memory device you have inserted at the time
Cybore
Have my doubts about C4eva coming on top this time... Looks like MS was finally able to secure their system against backups online. Even if we were able to somehow properly burn the proper current ap2.5 challenges, we would never know for how long that data would be valid for-could be a matter of minutes, hours or days. At least when they updated DAE.bin through dashboards you could prepare for the changes and adapt.

I guess it's time to say goodbye to live indefinitely. I should start looking RGH.
Mikemc87
Does anyone know if this can be a problem for an ODDE device? I don't really know how they work and even if it's can get any effect by this.
Quinton Rampage Jackson
I got the silent update, must have been an hour ago and MW3 failed for me.
I turned my system off and turned it back it on just now and it's asking me this time for an official update.
I declined. Is this the new dash already?
RRoD420
WOW LOL thats a win for ms. I think this is game over every console has a unique dae.bin?!!?? Yeah right. Use originals on live, if u play mw3 multiplayer, buy it. Well always be able to play backups.

i have a spare xbox 360 ill try the nand write protect later and test it online, dont really care if it gets banned just see what happens if they cant write the new dae.bin
rwcottrell
so how does this effect someone that dosent ever plan on going onto xbox live?
gamesquest1
QUOTE(rwcottrell @ Nov 17 2011, 10:05 AM) *

so how does this effect someone that dosent ever plan on going onto xbox live?

doesnt really apart from future updates may have a unique dae.ban for your console which you will need to dump, but for someone not planning to use live just do the RGH, much more useful that the dvd drive mod and no worries about re-burning disks or ap.2.5 errors
Quinton Rampage Jackson
Has anybody else been prompted for an official update yet?

It affects you because the games are being blocked as well. If they manage to implement this on games like system updates but also secret like this then it will eventually get you offline.

i have a noob question for the community Does it matter if i play my retail copies of XGD3 on my modded box? is it safe for live?

You should be safe because all the correct angles are pressed onto your disk. Meaning your disk contains the correct responses to the new challenges.

hah stepto got tired of all the taunting c4e was directing at him and stepped up his game!

Very smart soultion from Ms$! Everyone with his own table! Beat that! With no dashboard update as well...wow Microsoft has finally got its act together.

As usual it first its seems impossible to solve this, but nothing is realy impossible in technology!

So any non xgd3 backup is in theory safe for live? With no ap2.5?

i am italian and i am the same problem...Disc not supported -.-'... but the burnermax copy 1:1 with all ap.2.5 challenge ?or is the same of a truncate copy?burnermax is a safe copy for ap2.5?

what kind of fix? i think NOW we are all flagged! -__- i think we must resell our XBOX -.-
bluemimmosa
I have an idea, who doesnt want to reburn their disc and play the games..

QUOTE
1) Dump your nand and make sure your nand is good.
2) Glitch your console to get the CPUKEY.
3) Use 360 multibuilder from Rogero to build a retail image so it uses the dae.bin from the my360 folder. Remember that ur nand dump must use provided dae.bin to build the retail image.
4) Now flash back your retail image.
5) If all goes good then you have replaced your new dae.bin with your old dae.bin letting you play your existing backups.
6) Now stay away off live..

possibility of a rollback as non modded boxes are affected,

[2011-11-17 07:53AM UTC] #c4e <c4eva> a solution to the per console ap25 is being worked on, as un-modded boxes are affected, will monitor the situation to see if there is a rollback

Am I the only one who thinks that grabbing the "current" set of ap25 responses, and burning em to a disk so they can be played back later is retarded? What happens when they update the challenge database in flash? What happens when they send an unknown ap25 challenge thru live?

To LOL it up, and say ap25 is beat, is in fact retarded.
You willl all be burning a bunch of new disks every time there is a dash update, maybe sooner if they send dynamic challenges through live. You slim guys aren't even gonna be running backups of ANY kind before long.
Remember you heard it here first

Tiros, the guy sure knows his onions alright.

P.S. was playing MW3 original last night and got an unsupported disc error. Had to eject to get the game to start again.
I updated to beta dash early on and then played MW3 online for a couple of hours when it spat the error out. This is on a stock slim.

Is this possibly when the new table was issued?
pinkerton
I'm hoping that some good has come out of this, Microsoft have basically found a way to stop backups from booting, which is a good thing for them. So lets hope they dont also go down the banning route as well, no need to ban, just stop backups from working and keep your userbase online, makes much better sense.
While there at it, why not unban all the old banned consoles?

Why would "slim guys" using the RGH not be able to play backups?

As a guess, IF MS can update the DAE.bin. What is stopping MS to check the Flag files and etc...

SO MANY PEOPLE ARE BONED.

Sucks, MS had officially, Killed any "Current Xbox Live AP checks games." Right now.

THE HAMMER WILL FALL SOON.

BEWARE IT, as It will Screw YOU.

Also: The Dawn for backups offline, as it should of been.

Do not violate the TOS and COC for xbox.

Again the hammer will fall.

Whatever dude , life will go on and another hack will come out , that is the fun in this hobby.

Somewhat Noob question...
If I dont go to live, every backup should work, right?

Can the dae.bin be updated by disc??
DrGremlin
Are all XGD3 Titles affected or just some of them?
I'm currently playing Driver and Skyrim and just wanted to know. Was playing yesterday evening for the last time, so my dae.bin wasn't updated last time i played.
pinkerton
Just as well I've got back into my PC gaming, I cant imagine playing Battlfield 3 on a console.
jackspud
I have 4 Phat xbox's all are elite with liteon drives with LT+2.0, all my games are made with burnermax and verified, tthis morning two have the "unsupported disc" screen and will not play any new games (XGD3) these have been on xbox live in the last 36 hrs the other 2 have not been on live in the last 36 hrs and are playing all games, so its best to keep off live completley till theres more information. smile.gif
pv3nomq
So if your console got "sucker punched" by M$ will you get the "Game not supported" error?

Also I know someone in the preview program on a legit console, should I keep my Gamertag off that console because it stated that my gamertag "last signed in on another console" message. unsure.gif
