Ripping Your Own Discs with XBC and Topology Clarification

As there is confusing and conflicting information in the wild we would like to clarify a few points with regards to ripping your own discs and what to do with topology data.

1. Making Your Own Rips
When ripping your own discs with the latest Xbox Backup Creator v2.9 Build 350 you should have “processing AP2.5″ unchecked. This adds an extra hour to each game rip and is not required. This option is only used when topology data is being collected for development purposes.
Remember that angle measurements need to be as accurate as possible. If you rip your own you are using just 1 set of measurements. Your laser may be weak or you may have just one measurement out of hundreds that is out of bounds of the accepted values and your disc will error and you will be flagged for an AP2.5 Failure (See point #3)
FYI the accepted values are -/+ 22 (even though originals rarely go above -/+ 2 with a perfect quality laser – the extra is allowed for those that have a poor quality laser)
The median files that are created are the work of HUNDREDS of dumps per game over many different consoles and many different drives. Then using a complex algorithm millions of individual results are then calculated to give the absolute best timing scenario possible. The median files that are provided give a deviation of -/+ 8 (The original target was 9 – so anything below this is considered awesome).
To give you an idea of what we are talking about here is the deviation data when using the median file on an XGD3 title: http://pastebin.com/VSNkwF3m
As you can see the results are superb and rarely go above -/+ 4 with a maximum of 8 in just one instance.
However if you rip your own you may find that some angles will go up to -/+ 100 which is WAY over the -/2 22 threshold and will give you a bad image.
So when ripping your own images, uncheck Process AP2.5, patch with the given median file and then burn. There may be a simple app coded for you to check the deviation values of your own rips in the near future.
Note: The XGD3 Median Topology file covers ALL current XGD3 games. This includes other languages too. There is no need for you to check the profile of your game at this moment in time. if you are 100% certain that the median file does not work with your XGD3 title then you need to rip the original game using the new XBC and test it again. If it then DOES work then you need to report it with the Profile ID of the game and the AP25 topology file (after checking process AP2.5 of course). If you can’t do this then dont bother posting about it.

2. Bogus Median Files
We have noticed that some people have been uploaded bogus median files which are blank. These have been causing errors and making invalid images. Thanks to these assholes, many people have lost time and money.
The official and original download link for the median files is this: http://bit.ly/u6ZaKY

3. AP2.5 Flags & You
If you are flagged for an AP2.5 failure do not panic. This does NOT mean that you are going to get banned. Originals fail all the time due to a poor laser so this should largely be ignored. It’s fair to say that those who have countless failures will probably draw attention more than those with just a few. Take from that what you will. The point to be made is, if you are flagged, it doesn’t really mean shit.

4. Burning XGD3 Titles
When burning XGD3 titles use a Liteon iHAS Burner with the Burnermax firmware and verbatim MKM-001 or MKM-003 discs. There will be no other support or advice given on any other burner or any other media especially truncated versions. If you are too cheap to invest in an $18 burner and media that costs less than $1 then you deserve all the problems that you encounter.

you don't think M$ could be deliberately uploading corrupt Topology data? (happens all the time with MP3s/movies etc)

Is there a way to guarantee getting either MKM-001 or MKM-003 when buying verbatim discs?

8x is mkm-003
2.4x is mkm-001

those are the mids you should get when buying verbatim branded dual layers, the made in singapore ones are better quality than the made in india ones imho.

AMEN! But good luck getting the dummies that frequently here to do anything logical.

This is not a troll, this is an honest question, where can I get Verbatim's for less then a dollar? Cheapest I've EVER seen is 2 dollars most packs are 50+ dollars for 25. Also the cheapest price I could find on an IHAS was 24 bucks.

@MrGray - I had the same problem, finding cheap media. Finally found some on Amazon and ordered it.

30 Pack 8x Verbatim, $28.69 -

iHas 124, $19.52 -

Personally, I got an iHas 424 from CompUSA for $21.19, so I was happy with that. But I did order those Verbatims I listed above.

Does anyone know a good verified download for the XDG2 topology data, for games like AC2, NFS, or any others? I found a link that states it's for COD:MW2, COD:BO, and Reach only, and it's from a trusted source, but it supposedly doesn't work with all the XGD2 games the way the XGD3 one works. Here's the link if anyone's interested in it.

It is very easy to find cheap Verbatims and Cheap iHas drives. They sell out almost every week as they are so busy - so make sure you sign up for an email reminder for when they get them back in - they restock every couple of days

They've been about $1 for many many years - even Verbatim Blu-ray blanks have been under $2 for the past two years.

R u for real, this was answered at the top of this thread, ac2 and most other xdg2 games are not ap2.5 so no need for topology data, still waiting on a few titles but this was all answered on ixtreme.net that u linked, ffs read.

Dude, get over yourself, you know he means AC Brotherhood since it AND NFS are both AP2.5 titles. Granted he should have seen the answer on ixtreme, but everyone (including you) knows he didn't mean AC2, nobody's perfect.

Thank you. I did mean brotherhood. And I did see the answer on ixtreme, I wouldn't link to something I didn't read. I'm not the noob my limited post count on this site would suggest.

The question I asked was meant a little more generalized than how it was interpreted. I meant, does anyone know of any other verified and trusted topology data for any other xgd2 ap2.5 games (besides the ones on that thread I linked before). Doesn't really matter to me which games, I was just curious if it was around and maybe just the OP didn't know about it.

If you knew as much as you think you know you would understand why your question was so dumb.

"Does anyone know a good verified download for the XDG2 topology data"
first if its not here @xbox-scene or ixtreme.net you would be wise to look at team-xecuter.com and if you can't find it then it not available.

"I found a link that states it's for COD:MW2, COD:BO, and Reach only, and it's from a trusted source, but it supposedly doesn't work with all the XGD2 games the way the XGD3 one works"

thats the funny part, you say your not a noob (nothing wrong with noobs) and you post this.

If the don't know were to go to get the official releases of this software then just ask,

Well it's not my fault your an ass who's more concerned with flaming than helping. If you think I'm a noob I don't really care, because it shouldn't matter. At least I wasn't derailing the topic. But if you were to actually google me first you'd have enough info to not make assumptions.

The simple fact is that all I meant by the question was if anyone knew of any other releases that could be trusted. Same as cheat databases can be downloaded from cmp, codefreak, or me, even though the "trusted and verified" release source is cmp. If that question seemed stupid to you, then you don't understand that more than 1 group can release stuff, and then really who's the stupid one? Where would iPhone hacking be if everyone left it all to just one group and hadn't started releasing their own stuff?

dont used to topology file that doesnt work I had wasted 10 memorex disc and 5 verbatim disc.

Download the the new ABGX360 1.0.6 and run the it make sure you set it to level 3 first.
I just now all my burn are working . Im using memorex disc 4x.
also tested with verbatim disc too and it all work.
If you been using other disc give it a try I been using memorex for many years and had no problem.
I wasted about 15 disc becaused of the topology bin file. So is not the memorex disc is the file .
I just used the new ABGX360 1.0.6 yesterday and had made 20 backups and it work good.

For anyone that doesnt have IHAS DRIVE just used your burner that you have and burn at 4x and trunicated.
I had tested 2 memorex and 2 verbatims disc on my regular dvd burner and it work good too.
SO YOU REALLY DONT NEED THE iHAS DRIVE.

Download the new ABGX360 1.0.6 and set it to level 3

Its really cool to get all the info on how to make this all work perfectly.

"When burning XGD3 titles use a Liteon iHAS Burner with the Burnermax firmware and verbatim MKM-001 or MKM-003 discs. There will be no other support or advice given on any other burner or any other media especially truncated versions. If you are too cheap to invest in an $18 burner and media that costs less than $1 then you deserve all the problems that you encounter"

It would be so much nicer if this could be done with a Pioneer writer. Compared to a Pioneer these Liteon iHAS burners are complete rubbish. But hey I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth or anything.

Just curious but what if you loaded the game on your hardrive "ORIGINAL" game but then burn in trunacate mode just to play online???? Am i still safe or does it still need to be burned with a IHAS burner? and yes im all patched and updated!!!

My Pioneer burner should be put in a museum or something cuz it took a beating and still going strong!!

When I burn XGD3 Games using Ihas524 on image burn 2.5.6, I don't get and option to over-burn or truncate, it just burns. Backup games boots fine on LT+3.0 and passes all checks with ABGX360 v1.0.6.
Is this alright/normal or am I doing something wrong?
