So I got a new crystal xbox and wanted to move my maxtor 200gb hard drive from my old xbox to my new one. I took the 200gb drive and used hdunlock to unlock the drive, I then locked it using hdlock with the password from my new xbox. My mistake was that I did not use hddisabl before locking the drive again. When I put the hard drive in either of the xboxes I get an error 6. All the tools I have tried are unable to unlock the drive now. Any ideas or suggestions? I do have the eeproms from both xboxes. Thanks

you need a modchip for a wile to boot a auto installer and try to unlock

Have you tried unlocking the drive with the master password?

Use atapwd and try thiese to master passwords first

I am not sure if they are all caps or not so try different variations of caps and lower case letters to see if they work

Thanks for the replies. I have tried every master password I could find. I was curious about the mod chip. Does a chip ignore hard drive locking information? So if I had a locked drive from a dead motherboard and I put it in a chipped xbox it would work? Thanks again.

No. The eeprom has to match the one used to lock the disk,even with a chip.

If all else fails, check into hddunlock.com
Check if your hdd is supported, then buy an unlock code & get it unlocked.
