i just bought a nand-x and gathering as much info as possible before attempting my first jtag
however i am still confused over the connections.
I understand the jtag connections but are the nand connections also needed at the same time to be connected
to the nand -x

The NAND-X is only used to read/write to the NAND. You don't need it in place once you have flashed your NAND with the hacked NAND image. That's why the NAND-X comes with the pin-headers, so you can plug / unplug it when it is needed.

there is J2B1, (NAND) J1D2 (NAND)
J2D2 , DB1F1, ROL YELLOW WIRE (JTAG) do all thease need to be connected ??

Yes, otherwise you won't be able to read / write to the NAND. Are you using this as your install guide? I would recommend using either the QSB's or the pin header, since you will want to disconnect the NAND-X once you are done reading and writing the hacked image to your NAND.

Yeah, that's the standard kit. I would recommend using the QSB's (quick-solder boards) as they really make for an easy install. It's hard to solder the wrong points with those
