Been to cex today and got a 160gb 7200rpm seagate drive to put in my music server leaving an 80gb ide drive spare to go into my xbox.

Ive read a few of the tuts on here but Im still left abit nervy and dont feel I know the process well enough to guarentee success. Anyone who could answer a few questions might just stop me doing things 3 times tongue.gif

Xbox info: v1.6b
Softmodded using unknown exploit (i didnt do it) but more modern softmod applied using Heimdall's Xbox Engineering Disc (Kingroach)
Dash version from UnleashX: 0.39.052BA Build 584
BIOS 5838.01
Kernel Version 1.0.5838.1

Ive downloaded Xboxhdm (older liveCD, both pcs I have available are dodgy at best booting from usb)

Im not sure what to include here. Obviously I need backup eeprom but I will be booting the xbox off Heimdall's Xbox Engineering Disc and fresh installing the Kingroach softmod, so do I need to include anything in linux>c folder? surely I only need to build the partition table and lock the drive?

If thats the case this should be a very simple process, but I cant help wanting reassurance. Any advice would be appreciated

Edit: Hexen can do this on xbox?? I think ive speant my time reading the wrong tutorials gonna go searching... powering the drive aint a problem, this might be easier than i though.

Use HeXEn directly. It has an lxhdm implementation (option 2.4, which like all HeXEn options has on-screen instructions) to build new softmod disks, so all you need is a separate source of power for the new disk.

Think I might have misunderstood. Have I gone about this wrong?

I connected new drive to ide ribbon of xbox and power of spare pc. So I have old hdd and new hdd on same ide ribbon, old set as master, new as slave.

When I boot the xbox (to run hexen from old drive?) i get service errors. 7 & 11

ignore that.. sorry for noobness, think im on right track now with old hdd out the picture

Sorted, just booted off new drive and formatting extended partitions now. Once again Thank you
Heimdall
Glad you got it sorted. For clarity for anyone else who reads this, you should never have both hard drives connected at the same time when using HeXEn/lxhdm to build a new hard drive.
