I recently bought an Xbox that has a flashed drive but has not been banned. The guy does not know what frimware it was flashed with. I don't care to have a flashed drive. I would like to play on Xbox Live with games that are store bought. If I do go on Xbox Live with a legit game will I be banned for the firmware on the drive? Do I have to have someone flash the drive back to original fimware? I don't know anything about this stuff so any help is appreciated.

If it happens to have an older dashboard you can simply apply an update to the dashboard which will flash the drive back to stock firmware for you "as long as you have a somewhat newer console'.

if he has the newer dash already and cfw, then he has the newer FW - highly unlikely

do not to put any backups in the drive while you are updating online - do not to put any backups in the drive after the update either

you can use a retail game for the dash update
