Has anyone a circuit with points TR IN, TR OUT, READY and EJECT for LG GDR 8164B? The Talismoon adapter is unavailable. In topic about 8163B there were some information, but images don't work...
MrMajst3r
Anyone?
MrMajst3r
I found a circuit with some points:
IPB Image

CD:
LDCD =1 LDVD =0 LDOUT=0 LDIN=0

DVD
LDCD =0 LDVD =1 LDOUT=0 LDIN=0

NO DISC:
0

But they arent simple TR IN, TR OUT, etc.

Should I use some NAND gate like in Sony DDU1612 or LG DRD8160?

What is the signal supposed to be? What does "1" mean?

If you want TTL logic then use an OR gate for disk ready.

There was some firmware for that drive too I am pretty sure. And there were some compatibility issues.

I have three or four 8163b drives here. I'll sell them for $300 each.

I hate to burst your snot bubble, but these drives can still be found online for $50.

Oh? I never could find any when I bought mine. MrMajst3r, grab one of those, forget screwing around with the 8164 model. A bit of work and you'll have a perfect xbox dvd drive.

$300 = I'm not selling.

Oh, IC. I misunderstood you. biggrin.gif
I thought you were seriously attempting to sell one of your drives to the OP for an 1100% mark-up from the original (about $25) retail price.

LOL biggrin.gif
I'm selling 8163B drives flashed and with Xbox plug (they were used in computers before, but they are in good condition) for about 50-60 PLN in my country its about 16-19$ smile.gif

Oh I see.. 8164 isn't that great, there was some problem with reading dual layer disks or some such, I don't think it is really worth pursuing.

Yep. I figured that out AFTER I bought one. Mine is still alive and kicking tho. Yea, It doesn't like dual-layer discs, which includes the factory pressed dual-layer Xbox games and DVD movies. Also, I have noticed that I can't play retail DVD movies at all using DVDX. I have to use XBMC. Burned DVD movies work fine, although I haven't tried a movie burned to dual-layer yet. It's stupid but I'm fine with it. I only use that Xbox for playing my game backups anyway. biggrin.gif My "DVD Player" xbox has the converted SD-616 Sammy in it. cool.gif
