Hi,

when soldering a wire for the rgh i accidently hit one of those little resistors (or what are they) and the heat was enough to carry it away from the board. now the falcon glitches and boots but freezes on/just after the xbox logo on boot.

So i want to know must i get the exact replacement part for that or can i just bridge the connection with solder or a little bit of wire?

+ there's another little point above that which lost the solder it had on it. I'm wondering whether that could have impact on performance aswell.

Don't want to upload the page so the photo is in the link:

so it freezes all the time or occasionally??

just remove a resistor from a dead board and replace it

we do this all the time

you need to learn to make your solder joints much smaller than that or you will have problems.

It froze 3/3 times always around similar time. On the logo or just as the dash comes up

I have a spare board somewhere here, but smd soldering is really not my strong side :/

I know about the size. I just slapped it all together to test if it will boot at all. I usually make them small and cover them up with hot glue

cheezus. just soldered the resistor back on. was a bit easier than i expected but i'll check the connections again to be sure.

now the console boots up fine and doesn't freeze like it used to.

thanks for the help smile.gif

(but you know, i wonder, would it work if i just bridged the connections?)
