Xecuter Fusion is Coming...
Posted by XanTium | March 1 20:31 EST | News Category: Xbox360
From team-xecuter.com: [QUOTE] This year we are celebrating our 10th Anniversary and the team thinks it's about time we got back into doing what we became famous for in the first place.
I'll be having that as soon as it's released. A dual nand 360 with a custom kernel - woot! can hardly wait.

This is good news and a huge step in setting a very nice baseline for further homebrew development. Team Xecuter makes a point to stand behind their hardware releases with incredible (usually public) software development. I guess those coolrunners were a good seller! hopefully the XB1 release spirit continues with their software running on anything it can.
Im also curious as to what their RGH2.0 is - a better/more successful install or just an all in one update so one chip does it all.
"Naturally our present day endeavors don't really include any of the awesome hacking that took place on the Xbox 1, nowadays there are the well known firmware hacks which have been tremendously exploited by sceners such as Commodore4Eva & Team Jungle. As great as these 360 hacks are I don't think we will ever see again the level of fantastic homebrew capabilities that the Xbox 1 had - unless you have a JTAGGABLE 360 of course - then you should get yourself an Xecuter Nand-X" - htxtp://team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42434
Looks like Team Xecuter may finally surpass the JTAGGABLE 360 hype they posted back in '06 and all they achieved on the xbox 1

I am crying from happiness. I don't care if Xecuter is taking advantage of other groups hard work.
I was that guy that modded every xbox for his friends.
I was that guy that had a blue Xbox logo 'cause I was badass.
I will be that guy again. Thank you Xecuter. I've missed the original xbox style.

Wow. I can't wait to see the full details on what this can do. Wish it would have been earlier in the life cycle of the system, but this still sounds potentially awesome.

Not to temper your excitement, but the JTAG hack didn't come out until 2009. That list from Xecuter was probably modified as advancements were made in 360 hacking.

king kong exploit wasn't publically disclosed until Feb 28 2007 - 5 years ago. For some reason I don't remember seeing any hype video in December about the exploit. Guess there was some public demonstration though.
Ironic they release this video 5 years to the day almost after.

One must wonder if this will be a mod chip or TSOP style setup. In any event this will be sweeeeet and hopefully someone will develop a media player for it that will finally play .mkv-x264 content !! Cant Wait

It's a kernel that can be flashed to the nand - same as current nand images with JTAG / RGH
I expect it to be the same as Xecuter's XB1 days when all their bios's worked with any modchip. Theirs just happened to be the best mods hence why they were more popular.
Regarding media player - there has been a lot of talk on IRC that XBMC is going to be ported to the 360 now - just deciding if its gonna be libxenon or xdk - my bet is xdk as i know that libxeneon is doing some other cool media player stuff atm too.
Fun times ahead

Ive been here lurking since 2005 and haven't posted anything yet. The only thing i have to say is to everyone that was rampantly hating on xecuter for the past 4 years. Whether it was for being "over priced" or making products primarily used by noob's. Where are you all at now?. Ive modded numerous PlayStation's and Xboxes. Ive even connected the lockout chip to a switch in my old SNES to play imports. Ive been modding home electronics since the C64. Is there anyone else here that remembers making burst nibbler cables for the old C64's ?. I guess my point is a lot of spoiled kids expect to have their cake and eat it too. We've even got the "leet haxors" who in reality don't know their arse from a hole in the ground and all they can do is bitch and moan about how they cant get all the newest games for free, just check the PS3 scene for proof. The bottom line is that it takes a lot of time, patience and skill to make these things happen and finally someone delivers a complete replacement kernel for the 360 and Ill bet my bollocks that more than a few people will be crying about it. Its Kinda sad really...

Well now that was a nice treat to com home too. This must be said though. No point in a great kernel if there isnt any good homebrew to take advantage of it. So far 360 has atleast a dozen emus all of which are partially done.
So as exciting as this news is i would be happier to see some emus getting updated aswell as some true homebrew features. Changing the boot ani is super sweet and all but playing n64, nds, or dreamcast stuff would take the cake. Ofcourse an xmbc port would demolish any other project as far as popularity. Tx needs to light a fire under some devs arses in order to make this new kernel even more appealing.

Dont worry about the emulators. There is a good project in the works that is going to blow everybody away. Nes, Snes, Sega, And VBA will be coming with ALOT of great features and great compatability. Shouldnt be too long before its ready for the public so thats all I will say about it.
But back OT it is nice to see TX get beack to its roots, I am still running good ole 4983 on my xbox. The only thing that makes me wonder is what else do they really have to bring to the table when it comes to a custom kernal?? Every restriction that the 360 has is allready removed so other than custom boot logos and such I really see nothing else they can bring. Hopefully they can bring some new things in and maybe even see the 360 reach levels that the xbox did.
Another thing I am worried about is if we can flash this directly to our nand or will we need a DemoN to be able to run this kernal. I took a look at the TX forums and an admin over there said a DemoN is needed. Personally I do not need one as I have a cygnos in my slim now. I am perfectly happy with it running a RGH image on one nand and RgLoader on the other. Hopefully this part will also be like the old xbox days where you can use the TX kernal on anything.

Exactly this. Personally I also think we need xbmc. Everything else is not interesting. We have some emus already which work ok.. Maybe YT app or something for jtags but thats about it. The real deal is still the XBMC. Everything else works already and I have to agree to barn. Every restriction is in fact already removed. Theres not much left they can do in this direction.
I know its not easy ofc. Is there a linux driver for the xbox gpu with full access to hardware acceleration? Or let me ask this way- is the xbox gpu capable of accelerating h264 decoding etc.? Or does the cpu handle all the video stuff?

Custom boot screen sounds awsome, i never tought the 'good old days' would be back. If the roumors are true and there will be a XBMC with MKV support is would be awsome. I still have a E74 1st gen Xbox around waiting for a new project

Im with you guys in wondering if this will be demon exclusive.Hopefully it is trully a return to the old days and we can use it with any glitch chip or jtag for that matter. Sadly the root of all evil the all mighty dollar will probaly burst our bubble. As far as new features go what i see is stock dash doing pretty much everything freestyle does. Now if they managed to enable online to all live games using kai or some other p2p then wowza they would truly have a feat to match that surprisngly well made video.......
P.S Great to hear someone is working on something special for emus. By the way you said it it seemed maybe a AIO emu possibly? If so ill throw a benji your way if you make it pull boxart thx in advance

it isn't a demon exclusive, as it's just a different set of bl's, patches, etc. from what i can gather, it was work that was once abandoned and has recently been taken up again (by other folks).

This is great news to hear. I first got actively involved with Xbox1 modding once Xecuter finally got involved. I've yet to even bother with Xbox 360.
The main feature I'd be looking for is XBMC, even though that's seperate from XBMC, am I not the only one sick and tired of using PS3 Media Server/TVersity for MKV support?
Summing up-
XBMC & the ability to install a LARGE 1TB and up drive as the main drive. Plus the ability to create the 'F*** M$' logo upon bootup... was always my favorite for Xbox1 logos.
I can do without everything else, but I'm sure others can't.
Great work Xecuter!

what will this really add... jtag/reset glitch consoles already run unsigned code. XBMC can run on these now but the team has chosen not to do it from what I read awhile back. I remember doing custom boot logos on xbox1 but that isnt a big deal to me...

so this being a custom kernel would this mean that a glich chip would only be required to set up the kernel then once flashed to nand and stuff the chip could be removed? and xbox would boot to custom kernel

Good point pigbait but sounds to good to be true. Also plz keep in mind the name "fusion". Was picked for a reason which could be fusion of stock dash and modded or using it with demon for stock and new kernel. As for now its all speculation but as i said before without some dev support and some uber great software its jus another gimmick to add to the gimmicky tree.
Also everyone is killing me with the mkv support. My samsung tv/dvdplayer/galaxy tab 10.1 and xbox 360 using windows media center stream mkvs. Years ago i could see it being a problem but now every new dvdplayer and tv supports divx aswell as h.264. Not trying to brag jus curious why so many ppl starve for such a feature when even smart phones are capable. off topic check out samsungs new series 8 models. Mind boggli ng

I don't know why people think this is a new kernel or a custom one. It's a dev kit kernel. Same stuff that we got back in Oct. 09, aka freeboot/XBR/GGboot.
Of cource the Glitch chip is needed to boot to the modded kernel, just like GGboot or xell. The chain of trust is still there and needed to be hack to obtain access to the system.

It would be good if you could use this kernel to watch iplayer, faceboot etc without the need for xbox live.
Personally the features I'd like to see in this kernel are as follows.:
XBMC Built in xlink kai - without needing a computer. Abilty to assign internet sites like youtube, iplayer, faceboot, etc to a menu. Abilty to play all 360/xbox 1 backups, homebrew etc (already we have this). Better video codecs. Built in server/client for streaming from on to upnp devices + dlna support. Ping patch without the need for dashlaunch. Abilty to easily mod the menu's - ie skinable.
This would be awesome, but looking forward to it none the less.

If XBMC is a no go. people should try to port Showtime Mediaplayer to the 360.
I really love this, but aren't we kinda a bit too late to ever really fully appreciate this?
I suppose that depends on the release date for the new Xbox 3/720, but with the slow pace of homebrew in general for the 360 (so many unfinished projects) I feel as tho this may be an awesome addition, but too late to use it to its full potential.
But, as always I'm prepared to be proven wrong.

When has TX ever done that!?
Of coarse I'm also excited with this and RGH2 news. Be nice to have dashlaunch features built into a dashboard that can play any media file I throw at it. It doesn't have to be the XBMC team, anybody that has the skills to port XBMC or Showtime would get a donation from me

I don't know anything when it comes to "code" or "coding" but the 360 and PS3 are both "PPC" right? So some of the work is already done. So it would be easier to port showtime than it would to port say XBMC?
Even if it's not possible to port Showtime or it's just as difficult to port XBMC. How about WiiMC. the Wii is PPC too. but WiiMC has no HD support. (sorry for the OT)
Custom Kernel = Great.
