I read somewhere that you shouldn't frequently uplug the slim. However, is it safe to leave it unplugged for extended periods of time such as during a vacation?

That's absolutely ridiculous. It won't hurt to unplug it for any period of time.

It's safer to leave your electronics unplugged when not in use. The only thing it will affect is the system clock after its disconnected for several hours. Xbox Live automatically fixes the time when connected.

Its seconds for me, and yes the smc clock does get reset and either XBL, or FSD/Neighborhood can set it again.

Does it matter if it's the slim or the phat?
Aldanga
No. Leaving electronics unplugged won't hurt anything.

Where did you hear it's unsafe to unplug it? I've never even heard an urban legend referring to leaving electronics plugged in. It sounds like someone wants you paying a bit more on your next electricity bill. wink.gif As others have said, it won't harm a thing and is actually safer.
