Slim liteons require you to cut a trace and make a probe and you got to put the probe in a via on the end of the cut trace and then that allows you to unlock the drive so you can flash it, then once you unlock it you relock it. That is if you have a MXIC chip. If you have a WinBond chip then you need to drill into a certain point on the chip until it unlock, you know the drive is unlocked because jungle flasher will make a beeping noise at you and stop.
The MXIC should be 100% success if you take your time and are good at cutting traces and dont do anything like knock something off the board or cut to deep.
Winbond can be a failure even if you think you did ok, you will hear the beep and maybe even write. The symptoms of a bad winbond are no eject, no disk spin, no laser, no read/write, and of course nothing works at all after drilling.
In case you want to avoid that hassle, you can buy one to install in the beginning or a replacement if you mess up
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-VER-1-1-TX-Lit...=item46040d34f6Just get your key off the slim drive and get the dummy, then flash the hacked firmware and replace the drive in your system with this. I suggest soldering it in, its quite simple soldering. And always make sure you get your firmware/dummy.bin off the drive before you attempt the drill or trace cutting. If you mess up your drive board you can just replace it easily with the link above or just skip the whole drilling or cutting and use it in the first place. You can still get like $35ish-40 for your original board.
