I have another slim I picked up on Craigslist. All seals were intact so I know no adjustments were made to this drive. The original problem was Open tray so I thought I would check the POTs and found the DVD POT was at 2440. When I went to turn down the laser the POT bottomed out and I am now at a reading of 2300. After the POT and a 1/4 turn raise on the rails the drive is working correctly again. Should I worry about the laser being so low? I haven't seen any xbox with a reading this low.

Since, you have adjusted the POT of a laser, soon or later it will need either re-adjustment or replacement. So, the only thing you have to do it to order a replacement, and wait till your laser will fail, someday in the future.

you can always get a new laser on ebay for under $10 shipped if it shits out on you.
