Awesome man! could you do a little tute up?
and also some more pics with daylight, and disc drive closed etc ?

Yeah sure, for the tut it's really easy as shown in the pics, you just need to disassemble the DVD drive, glue the LEDs stripes like the pic shows, solder (+) to (+) and (-) to (-) and solder it on the PCB as shown in the picture, blue is (+) and black is (-).
Reassemble the drive back and that's it wink.gif
I will try to make more pictures.

Here is another night pic:

im guessing 3mm leds will not fit
LastNurd
Nope, because it will touch the DVD, there is a little space between the metal cover and the DVD, plus the LEDs strip has already resistors to go with the 12v from the SATA connector on the PCB.

yeaaah! niaace! definately going to do this on my old Gears modded console.

You get 12volts from the SATA pins
DragonSlayer1987
Patriot999 You can't run 6 green LEDs in series on a 12v line. If you are wiring in series use 3 LEDs and a resistor.
You are trying to run 6 3.4volt LEDs in series using just 12volts. Voltage required from circuit is greater than power source, so yeah it didn't work.
There are some really great tutorials on the site for wiring LEDs, it may help with your project.
