Just buy a Linksys router or one of those LAN kits places like EB or Best Buy sells. For a router, hook up each Xbox to the router using CAT5 cables.

Nothing really if the Xboxes are all local. If, however, you go on to XBConnect to play online, and if your PC is connected to the router, its best to not be downloading any headers

No, Xbox Live is not needed for games to be played via system link.
Xbox Live (not Life) is just software on your Xbox that allows you to sign onto the Live servers.

you don't necessarily need a router....... all you need is either a small switch or hub. a 4 port router will have a built in 4 port switch, but you don't necessarily need the routing features. it all depends on what you're wanting to do. but if you just want to hook like 4 xboxes together all you need is a 4 port hub and some ethernet cables.

THANKS, thats what i need most.
so i guess i just need to configure the settings on each xbox which are connected to the hub.
will the game play encounter any lag? so when do i need a router, for online purposes?
