I was able to read the DVD key from Jungle Flasher before the drive decided to go.

I was wondering if it's possible to buy a drive and flash it using the same DVD key or does the secret key need to be read from the motherboard?

If it's possible does it have to be the exact model NO and FW version as the faulty drive?

Your help is appreciated.

Yes, it's possible with just the DVD key. You'll need to flash the same model drive. What drive do you have?

I have the Lite On DG16D2S does the firmware have to be the same as the stock drive it was FW: 74850C.

Any DG16D2S will work as they all have the same hardware (and now firmware).

Thanks.

I have the stock dummy.bin file from the drive that failed is it possible to write that firmware using jungle flasher straight to the new drive...I keep running into issues when I try to add it as the target firmware.
