Hi, I have just sucessfully installed my X2.1 PRO modchip into my Xbox. My Xbox still works, it boots fine, I can play games, and there is a blue light at the side indicating that my modchip is workng. The problem is, I didn't install the external switch yet, and I'm wondering if this is a problem. Because there is no Linux BIOS on my screen!!! Just the same old boring M$ one. I read somewhere that the external switches are optional. So should I install the little switches also?

When you boot up your XboX, does it say 'XECUTER2' at the bottom or 'MICRO SOFT'? Try running a downloaded game on your XboX also, see if it works.

Well, I don't see how not installing the switch would effect cromwell not coming up It might need like the bios bank switch or something. Also, if you don't have jumpers on your chip you might need to have the switch, but I'm not too sure about that, it just seems logical. Just install the switch, it takes like 2 seconds it's not that hard.

Well if he just installed it, it would still say micro soft. Unless he flashed it with the external programmer, that very well could be the problem because that would wipe out cromwell.
Actually, that wouldn't be a problem at all

If the blue light is on, does that mean it is enabled. Because there is no crowmwell! Do you think the switch will do anything?? Also, can I still run EvoX with the M$ BIOS?

Did you flash your chip with the external programmer yet?

Okay, then sounds to me like your install is wrong. But just to make sure I would install the external switch and if that doesn't work re check your install and make sure you soldered everything right. Xecuter 2.1 pro should come preflashed with cromwell if I am not mistaken.

I've never installed a Pro but I believe that the light is on when the chip has power. I don't think it means your LPC points are OK as well.

Doesn't 2.1 just seem like a hassel with no extra benefits compared to 2.0 ?
