shit if you wonna pay $999.99 for that shit!!!
Xbox still rules!!

I thought the Playstation 1 was sometimes called the PSX. What's up with calling the new PS2 a PSX? Possibly Sony trying to confuse the hell out of us?

You got that shit right...I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay that much for a glorified TiVo/PS2 combo (glorified in the sense of extra features).

The Playstation 1 was originally referred to as the PSX untill they released the fugly model and called it PSone. Truly retarded.

This has been known since E3 back in early May.

yes and why was the original playstaion called a PSX in the first place u say ? well heres some useless info to crowd your brain .. the playstation (i don't see an X) was originally designed by sony for nintendo as an addon for the SNES which was going to be named something along the lines of playstationXtreme .. however nintendo dumped the contract with sony before they finished the PSX so sony decided to finish it up as a stand alone system , u know the story from there :]

or something like that ...
Mshake
whichever systems it is, well the new PSX sounds and looks cool enough to fit in any lounge ... but with all the hds and stuffs coming from SOny, i would bet that there are shitloads of protection against doing anything close to what we are doing for the xbox at the moment...

Ever buy a sony latest mp3 players and the likes?... only able to upload few songs and listen a few times before u need to delete and upload again hehe ...

There aren't anything different to the current ps2 anyway... perhaps maybe better lasers... and hard-drives well, ... it IS a bonus if this time next year, we could backup straight into the PSX's HD

You'll likely be able to do that with a PS2. The HDDs are already out in Japan and should start selling in the US later this year about the same time as FFXI. There is already development being done on getting backups to boot from the hard drive.

Yeah that guys homebrew drive irx is coming along pretty good now.

Personally I would prefer having a seperate TIVO and PS2. Lord knows the PS2 will be obsolete soon (if it isnt already) and it makes more sense to have them as two seperate units. I absolutely LOATHE the vcr/dvd combos out there. The vcr goes bad after six months and then you are stuck with an overly large DVD player.

Besides, I thought I read that the upcoming XBMP will support TIVO somehow.

As theraven said, I dislike the idea, as well. Does anyone here like integrated NICs? How about integrated video controllers?
EvilWays
How about integrated SCSI (4 freaking drives/channel on-board vs. 15 drives/channel via expansion card)? See Giga-Byte GA-8KNXP Ultra mobo...
