I hope I'm not wrong in assuming that the same minds into hacking the Xbox are into hacking their other home electronics.
Is anyone else here concerned over the recent shutdowns of Dish satellite boards like Sattech and The Innermatrix? Dave hackers have seen this kind of thing for years, but Dish has yet to be so litigious. Are any of you worried about getting that infamous letter-in-the-mail from Dish?
I've never bought or sold illegal hardware, nor traded in illegal programs. Nonetheless, individuals are beginning to be sued and prosecuted for just exchanging knowledge. Does this bode poorly for the Xbox scene?

Lets roll a fat joint, move to Canada, grow weed and forget about takeovers.

I dont think so, because the only illegal thing is copying and trading 'backups'
as long as X-S steers clear of that we should be mostly fine

Heh. Doesn't sound so bad. Move up to BC... fat joints... wait, what am I thinking? The RCMP have been busting sat dealers faster than a fat guy sweats while going up stairs.

There've been court cases brough upon people who only told others how to hack their satellite recievers and cards. Whether the readers were learning more about how their electronics worked or using the information to watch triple-x bondage porn for free was up to them. Can't the same argument be used for those giving instructions on installing mods in the Xbox? The reader could be using the knowledge for running Linux or copying all his local Blockbuster's games.

The info on this site fits into a "grey" area. Through all of the lovely loopholes in the law it is allowed to exist as it is. We certainly stretch the limits here but don't completely cross the line so it would be very difficult for the powers that be to make a case against this site (not to mention we would have to get international law involved).

This is wicked, I was gonna ask yesterday if anyone knew any good sites about sat hacks. I don't have sat, but was still kinda curious into that scene and what all has been done. I heard direct tv was easy to hack though. Talked to my dish net rep about it and if it's possible. She says it can't happen w/ dish net work. Just wanted to prove her wrong.

recenetly piratesden was shut down by DAVE .. this was an info site and contained no files or actually scripts .. mind u they haven't been charged as of yet the site is still down.. basically it all comes down to time and money, u can get an injunction to shut any site down pending a trial if u have even somewhat of a case .. i think MS has better things to do and DAVE doesn't .. ya and whoever said dtv is easy to hack u are correct , get a loader and some software and its free bondage films for all (jk) :]

PD was a great site... However, it is a site that said they had no files or scripts. However, they have continued to provide premium members with WD40 software for quite some time. The software allows you to easily update fuse scripts for each new hash. Along with the software they gave all the info people needed to actually do the update. I've been in it since the H card days and if I remember correctly they only got rid of their official file section around a year ago. They were also heavily involved with the spreading of info-scripts-disassembly about the HU when it was originally hacked. At a minimum that is copyright infringement.
Good news though... From what I understand Dave was not able to take their servers... Just stop their providers from giving internet service. That means that no IP's were given out. I hear that the forum data is currently being moved to another server location and they will be back up and running in stealth mode with a new IP very soon.
Other good sites for newbies are DSSNation and DSSTester. I believe both have very good tutorials how to program your cards. Just make sure you are comfertable with assembly so you can write you own code (and understand the hashes as they come) or your TV will be going out every few days. My 1m has been up and running for almost 4 months now.
